The children in the Rainbow Room have enjoyed collecting natural resources from our garden. The children then explored the cause and effect of dropping the items from a height, there were lots of discussions about how fast or slow the leaves and sticks were falling through the air🍂😁

The children in the Ladybird Room have been busy in the marvellous meals area this week making egg muffins and shortbread. The children have also been helping to cut up the fruit for snack!

The children in the rainbow room have been sequencing pieces together of there peers bodies. Some children are able to confidently place their own pictures together and are even identifying other peers by their clothing!

Children have been continuing their interest in story telling and making their own stories. Children were using lots of descriptive language as they made their marks and illustrations. Copying words and letters and even using rhyming words. “Gruffalo-wuffalo”, “snake-cake”,”fox-sox”

Some of the children selected to make Purple Prickle Pancakes from the Gruffalo Cookbook. The children worked well, successfully measuring out all the ingredients, and they even counted out all of the 50 blueberries that we needed to make our pancakes. Most of the children tasted them.

The children have been loving The Gruffalo story. We made a small world area recreating the homes that all of the characters live in, in the story. The children have been recalling the events in the story to role play.

In the rainbow room we had a lovely grandparents event, icing biscuits and creating some cakes with messy play and craft materials. We are glad that our grandparents had a great time and received great feedback.

Today we made Scrambled Snake from out Gruffalo cookbook. The children worked well together. There were mixed reviews when tasting, but lots of the children gave it a go! J, L and H had a look through the Gruffalo cookbook and asked to make Purple Prickle Pancakes next week next.

We have been exploring our senses with jelly. Seeing how it turned from jelly cubes to liquid then to jelly. We used spoons to scoop it, and squeezed it in our hands. It tasted quite good too.

!!!! Information !!!! We have our photographer booked for Wednesday 28th October. She will be in all day. If your child doesn't attend on the Wednesday, you will be able to book a slot. You are able to bring along siblings for a family picture. The theme will be around Christmas.

This week a few children went a walk to Denny Library to return some books. The children enjoyed looking at lots of books while we were there, and even chose some to borrow and bring back to nursery. The children were keen to discuss road safety and how the traffic lights work on the walk.

Today we prepared and cooked some banana roll ups on the fire. We worked together to set up the fire pit and counted how many sparks of the flint and steel it would take to start the fire. “1, 2, 3, 4, 5” We enjoyed our tasty snack around the warmth of the fire!

Today we have been exploring different ways to mark make in the messy area. Some of our friends helped to make puffy paint to allow us to do this. The children used a variety of different brushes and rollers, as well as their hands to create their wonderful pictures.

After seeing the real police car we went back to our block area and worked together to build our police car. We looked back at our pictures of the police car to see what specific parts we needed to add to the vehicle. We recreated the cage at the back and role played being locked in the car.

In the butterfly room we have been building police cars in the block area. We had a visit from the police so that we could see the parts we needed to build our police car. We got to hear the siren, watch the lights and sit in the back of the car. This was a very fun day for us!
