iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

A new comic comes out this Friday, not today. Still need more work on it, without being distracted by Rimworld.

Also some new prints, I'm bringing back the prints for the event since it's like a two day convention. If you're in Santa Rosa, it's from October 3rd to the 4th at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds.

000

Oh, the other thing I meant to say that Sonoma-Con is about less than two weeks, I'll have the usual batch of comics, plus a couple of reprints; Angy Litta Grrl and Chunky Buns Does The 900. My progress on reprinting My Monster Family has been nonexistent so that maybe a next year thing.

I don't like making auto bios since I'm mainly a private person to begin with, but also nobody needs to know where I came from. From the earth I rise, the earth I shall return one day. Truthfully, if I even had a instance of sharing my overall feelings right now, I'm afraid I'll be committed.

Tomorrow or Friday there will be a small new comic. Like six pages. I'm working slowly on it since it's not a big concern, it's also a really unflattering portrayal of me. It's not a auto-bio comic in the slightest but a hypothetical. A hypothetical-bio, if you will.

Now being in my dirty thirties, I think I'm a lot wiser even though I can't drive and still retain some self hatred from the things I did as a teenager and in my early 20's. Fulfilling at least one goal from my youth feels like a redemption. I'm at least happy to get out of the Bay Area for awhile.

I left for Los Angeles around 2013 and went to a community college for like five years, trying to find myself, the art college experience never happened until I went to MIAD at like 26. Now my feelings on art colleges are just cynical at best.

It's ways away till I vend at Portland Zine Symposium but going to Portland is bringing back a lot of memories of high school me. Like way back in 2012, I applied and got accepted to a art college up there and was excited to leave the dirge that was San Antonio, but circumstances changed by a lot

Theres a channel devoted to Bewitched, theres a channel thats just full of AI Slop, theres a channel thats playing every episode of Clannad, its a mess, what the hell is TV anymore

000

I never bothered with any of the FAST streaming services, but curiousity striked as I put on the Bob Ross Channel and just have it for background noise

100

Owl jumpscare in this Bob Ross episode I'd watched

000

I walked away from art college learning everything and nothing, so I totally understand. I still don't know if I'm doing it right half the time, it feels mixed sometimes. Seeing others making comics and the differences of it all is like the biggest motivator that its all connected in a way.

I learned comics during COVID and came away with a pig-latin jargon of how they work. It didn't help that my comics professors were big into superhero comics so the language barrier between my version of comics and their version of comics were totally different.

The aforementioned wheel in question

The feeling of the day today is nostalgic yearning, it was decided on the wheel of conflicted repressed feelings this morning as I'm drinking coffee, I don't make the rules the wheel does it for me.

Thanks to everybody that stopped at my table yesterday, the slashin' sycamores sold out and I had a great time at SF Zine Fest! I walked away happy but worned down since like the finaI two hours I was exhausted as hell. Need like a day or two to recover. Glad to have met everybody though!

Here at SF Zine Fest at The Hibernia! Come check out the new comic, Slashin' Sycamore! Lower Level, B44!

Matthew @mynameismathuin.bsky.social · 06/09/2026

Tomorrow I'll be at SF Zine Fest, from 11am to 5pm at The Hibernia, I'll be at the lower level at Booth 44. Bringing the new comic, Gooda, and others. Prints are being brought, and have some mini zines for free.

000

It'll be interesting seeing people's reactions to the book, Science Girl was the closest thing to horror I've done for awhile but Sycamore's interesting since it's more nihilistic I guess? Either way, excited for Sunday. Been too long since I've done a event like this.

000

Slashin' Sycamore's coming out this Friday in my store at www.mynameismathuin.com/store, it'll be $10.00, around 24 pages and comes with a VHS-style sleeve! Like the tapes you get at the blockbuster once upon a time. It'll also be available at SF Zine Fest this Sunday as well!

I'm going 110 mph in a car, ripping cigarettes and talking on the phone about Looney Tunes. I'm freer than I ever had before. Let me tell you about Peter Lorre in the film, Zach.

Like everybody I talk to about Coyote Vs. Acme feels like the scene in Deadly Premonition where York's talking about the toxic inter-dependency of Tom and Jerry. It's all there Zach, the Road Runner knows that Wile E. Coyote's trying to eat him but he's his friend.

120

It'll be released online on my store at 9/4/26 and in person at SF Zine Fest at 9/6/26

Sycamore explains that they kept coming and a montage of the people's deaths are shown.

Sycamore goes insane with the fact that death surrounds him, but comes to the quiet revelation that he is stuck in a sisyphean cycle of carnage. He tells you now what to expect.

Now in first person, Sycamore lunges at you and chokes you to death. He laments that nobody ever learns.

Here's a excerpt of my new comic out, Slashin' Sycamore, featuring his first appearance from the 2023 comic plus a new page that's a Night Gallery homage to explain what's in store.

Tulip, a girl with a big bow and some attitude, is in a dark room with painting hung about, similar to the old show Night Gallery. She is explaining about a mass murderer, Sycamore, whose story of hunting people in the woods is never ending. She also explains that to not sympathize with him as he shares no regrets in his transgressions.

Sycamore, a hermit whose face is visibly shadowed, explains his connection with the woods and how he protects it.

Sycamore explains that people from the city are encroaching on his land and he is getting fed up with the noise.

Sycamore explains he tried to scare them away from his campgrounds, but is resorted to extreme measures, like what all slasher villains do in times of desperation.

God, I love cartoons. I love everything about them. Like, cartoons are the best damn thing imaginable and the fact we're not making more of them is a shame. I want to see weird cartoons, sad cartoons, scary cartoons, cartoons are the best damn thing ever.
