Now I want to publish a litrpg written by a woman that isn’t full of bigotry. I could never market it as “Marines hated Dungeon Crawler Carl so much she published [book]” but WE all would know. If you have one, I’d accept that submission even though I’m not open to other submissions right now…

I went into finding a first book for Mareas knowing I wanted a story that, love it or hate it, would make people think. I found a literary speculative novel about complicated humans experiencing chaos as the world shifts around them. Three days left until The Unmapping bookshop.org/a/20702/9781...

There's a sequence in Sinners (well, one of many) that I can't stop thinking about: Grace tells them they can’t just stay in the mill. They have to fight. Grace isn’t wrong to see the danger of waiting—not only for themselves but also for their families and village.

Holy shit this is such a terrible answer from the @illumicrate.bsky.social Chief of Operations/Head of Communications. Honestly saying nothing would’ve been less insulting

A screenshot from the Illumicrate discord it reads:

Caitlin (Saint of Chaos): The Illumicrate team will not be making a statement with regards to the decision to create an edition of Rose in Chains, or any other books that are reworked Harry Potter fanfiction or are written by authors who have previously written Harry Potter fanfiction but we have seen your feedback and taken it on board, as always and you are welcome to email your thoughts to the support team if you wish.

In regards to the comments/questions about server rule 13 (that’s the rule about HP/JKR) we don’t think rules in a community space should be taken as a reflection or extenson of Illumicrate’s business strategy, or the views of the members of the team.

We previously offered a dedicated thread for discussion of these books for those who wished to discuss them, to keep the main server rule-compliant. That was shot down as people felt they had the right to discuss Illumicrate’s decision to do editions of these books in open forum.

Orange Wine, my second acquisition, is on NetGalley! A sensuous story of love, betrayal, and self-discovery in early 20th-century Colombia. If you love Ferrante & Allende, this one’s for you. I fell hard for this book and can’t wait for you all to experience it. 🍊 www.netgalley.com/catalog/book...

The book cover for Orange Wine by Esperanza Hope Snyder features a warm orange background with green leafy branches adorned with white blossoms and small unripe oranges. Stylized orange wine stains and splashes of deep red are scattered across the cover, giving the impression of spilled wine. The title, Orange Wine, is displayed in a tall serif font, with “A Novel” written in delicate script beneath it. The author's name, Esperanza Hope Snyder, appears at the bottom in a matching font.

Last week, I saw some lady arguing that audiobooks weren’t real reading, but the thing that SENT me was that she was using ChatGPT to prove her point. Anyway, I wrote a post about why I think some people are SO PRESSED about audiobooks. mareas.binderybooks.com/item/2MoA36U...

A screenshot of a TikTok video and its comment section. The video features a young woman with long blonde hair, wearing a gray T-shirt. Behind her, faint text is visible on a screen.

Below the video, the comment section shows a comment from a user named Mari - booktok + media reviews, which reads: "The asking ChatGPT is SENDING me. This cannot be real 💀" with one like.

The TikTok creator, hollyyyann, replies: "chatgpt knows everything.."

Mari responds: "Sure, sure. I’ll just say that it doesn’t surprise me that the person asking if there are different forms of reading also thinks ChatGPT is where they should ask 💀"
