They aren't fantasy, but Gordon Korman writes a lot of funny books

Laura Halse Anderson's newest book, Rebellion 1776, is also about a pandemic and inoculations, this time smallpox. It's a fantastic piece of historical fiction.

Just finished Lu and Ren's Guide to Geozoology by Angela Hsieh. It is an absolutely gorgeous story with stunning artwork. It works as a standalone, but I hope this will be a series because there are so many places to go with it and I want more! #KidLit #Librarian #GraphicNovel #BookSky

Ugh. How can he be right but so very wrong at exactly the same time?! 😭 (He's right about AI picking up incorrect garbage. He's so very wrong in his definition of garbage.)

Some sellers on Amazon will change the listing to a completely different product rather than make a new listing. That way the product doesn't show 0 reviews and their people are more likely to take a look at it.

New teams now have to deal with the cap. There are still free agents for the O6 to recruit as well as some amazing talent in the upcoming draft class. Feel your feels, but it's truly not the end of the world for this league. 🧵 2/2 #PWHL

Each O6 team protected 4 players and lost 4. It's hardly doom and gloom. NY still has their ROTY. Ottawa still has their playoff MVP. Montreal still has Captain clutch. Etc etc. 🧵 1/2 #PWHL

So now I'm excited to follow Jaques and Quiggy to Vancouver 💙🤍

110

Mx. Librarian @mxlibrarian.bsky.social · 10/06/2025

Yup. I was a MN fan since the first season. I stuck with them through the second season because of all the other amazing players on the team. But I dropped them as soon as they protected Curl. That tells me exactly what they think of me as a trans fan. 🤷

Mx. Librarian @mxlibrarian.bsky.social · 10/06/2025

It's interesting to see Seattle go mostly offense and Vancouver go mostly defense. It's going to be an exciting season to watch!

Mx. Librarian @mxlibrarian.bsky.social · 10/06/2025

I'm watching this draft and have 99% settled on Vancouver for my new team. Masch, Nurse, Jaques, McQuigg, and Bell all on the same team? Talk about a dream team!! 💙🤍 #PWHL

If you support drag story time, please call or email to compliment your libraries' programs. We get so many complaints, people yelling, cussing, calling names. The support helps counter that. It also tells us that people *want* these programs and gives us data to keep them going. #librarian #Pride

I have at least 4 sweaters on the needles, not to mention all the other projects, but there are two more sweaters I have the yarn for and are calling to me so strongly. 😭🧶 #ADHDProblems

I guess I have more patience for it because in BlueSky's early days a very large portion of users were just that. I knew what I was signing up for when I got my invite (yes, it was still invite-only when I joined). I do agree that they shouldn't purposely post to unrelated feeds, though.

Yes but it's better than people who comment "I'm going back to knitting 🧶" or similar on awful political posts. I follow this feed specifically to stop the doom scrolling. Please don't put that crap on this feed too!

I once saw someone nalbinding, which requires *lots* of spit joins, who carried a very small container of water with them that they could dip the yarn end in to avoid using spit. I thought that was quite genius!

I thought and hoped it would be Rooney, especially after her incredible performance in the finals. But they just had to make the worst choice possible. 😒

I have stuck with Minnesota since not far into the first season. I love so many of the players. But protecting Curl is the last straw for me. I'm going to wait to see how the drafts shake out, but I'm really loving Vancouver so far. Jaques, Nurse, and Masch are three of my favorite players! #PWHL

I don't know what's in it, but it's definitely NOT sewing supplies. Why would anyone ever have sewing supplies in a cookie tin?!

This is what I love most about the fiber arts community. I went to a fiber arts con and there was a dude there with a thin blue line flag on his walker... everyone was giving him a WIDE berth. I was wondering if he actually knew where he was? Like, there are pride flags everywhere dude, take a hint.

Just finished "Band Nerd" by Sarah Clawson Willis and Emma Cormarie. It's a middle grade graphic novel that hits HARD, about a girl with an alcoholic father. Wow, wow, WOW!!! A definite must-read! #KidLit #MiddleGrade #Librarian #BookSky 💙📚

As for "things you wish you knew," it's definitely cable memory. Some cables hold whatever shape they are bent into for a *really* long time, which can be extremely annoying and make them nearly unusable.

010

Mx. Librarian @mxlibrarian.bsky.social · 29/05/2025

I swear by Chiaogoo. I like metal needles, and theirs have smooth joins and the cables have no memory which is wonderful. I have their interchangeable sets. They also finally made cables that spin, so I got those for my interchangeable crochet hook set which I use for Tunisian crochet.

#WIPWednesday: I found a seamless top-down sweater pattern on Ravelry that looks like set-in sleeves. I am making modifications to make it a tee and use moss stitch rather than stockinette. #Knitting Pattern: continuing top down by Nataliya Volyanyuk. Yarn: Cotton King from Hobbii.

Checking wasn't allowed at the college level to anywhere near the extent it is in the PWHL, right? Could that be why it wasn't a thing? They keep making the "adjusting to the rulebook" excuse for her, but it's odd no one else is having as much trouble as her with avoiding checks to the head.

tldr: dirty play is part of hockey. Dangerous play shouldn't be. Suspensions and penalty minutes are completely different categories for a reason. (3/3)

Mx. Librarian @mxlibrarian.bsky.social · 27/05/2025

Babstock's suspensions were for two different things, while all of Curl's were checks or a stick to the head. So she's learning nothing from hers. And the spotlight was already on her for her bigotry, so of course her sussies get more attention. They add to the picture of who she is. (2/3)
