New Sharks intermission entertainment is human pony races (towing a sled across the ice) and I can think of a whole new constituency this could bring to the Shark Tank

It’s time for Sharks hockey! 3rd preseason game, vs. the Ducks. All legit Sharks in the starting lineup (WillMack, Marchment, Kesselring, Nurse, Ned). We’ll see who else rotates in! Go Sharks!

The Fire hasn’t been on national TV a lot so I don’t know what other productions do, but do any other teams use the city’s airport code when they need a 2 or 3 letter abbreviation? I remember a little dust-up when the Golden Knights were new and it took a minute for everyone to settle on VGK

ESPN wrapped up their US Open coverage tonight with this graphic, and I wondered which of these exhortations is closer to the athletes’ experience to the top row: “You gotta look tough! Think Trump’s mug shot!” to the bottom row: “People won’t like you if you don’t smile!”
From ESPN: “Americans Remaining – 2026 US Open”

Top row, four men (Ben Shelton, Frances Tiafoe, Learner Tien, Alex Michelsen) all with some variation of a tough-guy scowl

Bottom row, four women (Jessica Pegula, Coco Gauff, Iva Jovic, Emma Navarro) all smiling as a normal person does when someone takes your picture

Several artists I like and support put out calendars as a way to make money and get their work out there, and I get one pretty much every year With the 2027 calendars coming out I hope a little effort goes into checking the parts they didn’t create themselves. It was a very confusing weekend

In actuarial terms, a World Cup in the USA is probably a twice in a lifetime event for me, but in 1994 I was even poorer and more removed from any of the venues, so this is probably my one shot. As you can see from the train, it really is San Francisco Bay Area on-the-way-to-the-Stadium

Here’s the part I could relate to the most, as someone who actually did a show on a cable FM station like this in that long-ago era (the 1980’s). The flyer sums up the ethos *perfectly*
Flyer recruiting DJs for KSUN, a student-run cable FM station at Sonoma State University. The money quote: “The KSUN staff and management is made of many young, discontented and emotionally unstable persons, who feel that college radio has a responsibility to promote new and independent artists to a world overrun by commercial radio feeding its listeners endless mindless dribble.”

and my initial thought was “cool, they’re setting the ambience with the sound of an amp that’s plugged in but not doing anything yet” I underestimated them. Wildly. Did I jump on the stage and grab an axe. No 🙁. But if you can go, bring two friends, and make the museum staff proud/cringe/whatever
