SPACE BASTARD @mx7x.bsky.social · 28/08/2026Raymond Carver - Elephant. I was obsessed with Carver in high school; this realisation that somebody could write in such a glassy, precise way was intoxicating. Elephant isn't quite as wonderful as my memories of Carver, but there are some gorgeous moments. 000
SPACE BASTARD @mx7x.bsky.social · 26/08/2026Love Letter From Beyond - Hayami Jun. Kudos to The Mansion Press for publishing something so utterly vile in English! Along with Shintaro Kago, Waita Uziga and Suehiro Maruo, Hayami was one of those guro artists most frequently shared on scanlation sites in the early 00s. Completely nightmarish. 000
SPACE BASTARD @mx7x.bsky.social · 25/08/2026Not the biggest fan of early 00s Kylie and Kids is probably the worst song ever recorded. But even average Kylie is essential... 000
SPACE BASTARD @mx7x.bsky.social · 25/08/2026Fossilization - Advent of Wounds. Crushing, atmospheric and somewhat blackened Brazilian death metal. Saw them live a few days ago and they were amazing. Worth checking out their current tour with the equally amazing Phobocosm! 000
SPACE BASTARD @mx7x.bsky.social · 24/08/2026Little 40th birthday present to myself: all four current volumes of Pink Line's Hisayasu Sato collection! So very excited to see these in something other than abysmal torrented VHS rips and ancient DVDs with unreadable subs! 000
SPACE BASTARD @mx7x.bsky.social · 29/06/2025Turning doing Sunday Morning Stuff in to a JRPG with the Xenogears soundtrack 030
SPACE BASTARD @mx7x.bsky.social · 14/06/2025Wait has Sabrina Carpenter released a harsh noise album? 010
SPACE BASTARD @mx7x.bsky.social · 30/04/2025Currently listening to...lots of 80s anime music, bit of Strauss, bit of Ravel, and so much death metal of the filthiest persuasion... 030
SPACE BASTARD @mx7x.bsky.social · 09/04/2025I'm on on holiday, and the flat we're staying in has perhaps the most archetypal collection of DVDs that only exist in holiday lets 210
SPACE BASTARD @mx7x.bsky.social · 06/04/2025There was a crazy amount of good stuff in the 2nd hand section of Heffers today 🫂🫂🫂 000
SPACE BASTARD @mx7x.bsky.social · 01/03/2025ZELDA - ZELDA - magesterial Japanese postpunk. Also probably the joint coolest looking band in the world along with Xmal Deutschland and Strawberry Switchblade 010
SPACE BASTARD @mx7x.bsky.social · 27/02/2025Motohiro Kawashima - Acrobatizm/Prepared Wave - New Data Discs release!!! Double album release of Kawashima 's stuttering, frantic, fractured yet melodic brand of electronica. I've been enjoying it for a while, and it sounds gorgeous on record 010
SPACE BASTARD @mx7x.bsky.social · 26/02/2025The Buffy The Vampire Slayer OST is like a hyperreal slab of 90s alt rock perfection. Listening to my sister play this on constant loop for years until my mind melted started a lifetime love of fuzzy, laconic pop 000
SPACE BASTARD @mx7x.bsky.social · 26/02/2025Discovered Walter Piston by chance in a charity shop. His Symphonies are dreamy but his chamber music is particularly lush, probably my favourite American classical composer 000
SPACE BASTARD @mx7x.bsky.social · 25/02/2025Richard Ramirez - Bodytalking - this is so so so good! Nasty, dirty, ugly noise, sometimes burbling away, sometimes exploding in to rageful walls of fuzz. It has a wretched toilet ambience. This is a good thing I guess 000
SPACE BASTARD @mx7x.bsky.social · 25/02/2025Sado Vision - Sado Vision. 80s (?) Italian (?) old school noise, like a really cold and nightmarish Throbbing Gristle. Thrumming electronics and pained shrieks and all that 000
SPACE BASTARD @mx7x.bsky.social · 24/02/2025Coffins - Sinister Oath. Coffins have absolutely nailed the super sludgey mid tempo death metal thing. Like Cathedral on steroids! 000
SPACE BASTARD @mx7x.bsky.social · 24/02/2025My flowchart for the final episode of my lovecraftian pomo horror campaign. I still messed up the ending 010
SPACE BASTARD @mx7x.bsky.social · 21/02/2025Reading Generation Bloodbath by Paul Curran. I loved Left Hand so much and I love this too. It's like facing an onslaught of static, harsh noize in literary form. But it's also fun! 000
SPACE BASTARD @mx7x.bsky.social · 19/02/2025Watched The Evil Of Dracula (1974)last night. Sold as a 'trilogy' of Toho produced Japanese vampire films. Very much influenced by Hammer, there's something overwhelmingly delightful and gentle about all of them, many miles away from the excesses brewing in Japanese cinema in the 70s... 010
SPACE BASTARD @mx7x.bsky.social · 19/02/2025Since my daughter was born I've hidden a lot of the more objectionable books I own in my bedroom, creating a nice little grove of filth 010
SPACE BASTARD @mx7x.bsky.social · 18/02/2025Lots of Black Metal and genre adjacent music tries to sound evil and ends up sounding silly. But Bethlehem take things so far they genuinely come across as abject and unhinged. This is wonderful, delirious, ridiculous music 110
