I ate tonight at amost enjoyable restaurant with amazing barbecue and galactic ambience: Space Aliens in Bismarck, North Dakota. Loved the tender brisket and "Martian Munchies." Sadly, only three locations so far.

As a former high school teacher, I can tell you that I had a father laugh at me when I called him about his unruly son. He had the same problem and invited me to tell him the solution when I found it.

Many are corrupted, others are destroyed financially and physically. Still others are scarred emotionally by witnessing and trying to help the victims. No one escapes unscathed.

Marie Bottineau Baldwin was an attorney and advocate for women voting. This plaque honors her. As some Republicans push rescinding the 19th Amendment or enacting "household voting," we must redouble efforts to protect the rights of women and individuals to vote. #elections #suffrage #vote #politics

Charles Dickens's skewering of a labyrinthine court system unveils stories of characters who surrender their lives in hope of a favorable verdict. Will stewards, faithful servants, and heirs survive corruption and intrigue? The novel's length highlights the abuses that Dickens attacks. #booksky

In poetic prose, the author intertwines the pains of forbidden love with grief over a lover, a child, and a parent when the protagonist loses each too soon. Can forgiveness effect reconciliation? Does God hear her prayers? How can she keep grief from aborting her potential happiness? #booksky

The Run/Walk for the Fallen at Fort Leavenworth remembers the military members who died for our country but also honors their families. This morning (Saturday) I walked the three miles as I remembered my uncle and friends of mine as well as their survivors.

Didn't the Republicans enact a no-confidence procedure to change Speakers more easily? Seems like this would be a good time to assess Johnson's support.

Biggest factors were economy after pandemic, racism (immigrants and Harris), and misogyny. I think there was an undercurrent of some thinking that Trump had been unfairly prosecuted despite Garland's DOJ being very deliberative (slow) in bringing charges

Others didn't vote for her because of the economy or preferred Trump on immigration. I voted for her because of her history in law enforcement and her grilling of Kavanaugh in Senate SC hearing, her work on roots of immigration problem, work as Veep, and I had read her book These Truths We Hold.

I heard people say the "lesser of two evils" line. Some didn't vote for her because she was a woman, not White, for abortion, too loyal to Biden, too soft on crime, too liberal, or too conservative. She still received the third most popular votes ever in a U. S. Presidential election.

The cross was originally "a symbol of repression and hate." The Romans used it to torture and execute perceived enemies of the empire. I have never been comfortable with its use as "Christian" jewelry.

3) There are similarities in the early years to the kidnapping of Ukrainian children by Russia: recent political developments in Argentina echo what is happening in the United States, where scientific research is defunded and history is rewritten. #booksky

2) The tragic kidnapping of suspected opponents of the Argentina government during the late 1970s and its fraught aftermath are recounted by the author, who conducted painstaking research and sometimes difficult interviews while seeking truth and striving to practice good ethics.
