Hot take: "Apartment 7A" is worth watching *just* for Julia-Garner-with-dark-hair. Love her. Love the blond curls, too, but she looks awesome in this..

I donated to the Alveus Research & Recovery Institute Pixel Project ( www.alveussanctuary.org/institute/pi... ) yesterday; you should too:

Crazy coincidence: one of our artists just remixed "Now Get Busy" again. It's got legs! ccmixter.org/files/musikp...

I wonder whether you consider ccMixter an "agency/manager"? ... we consider ourselves more of a collective, and would like to promote our artists' work in this feed... DM me?

mwic @mwic.bsky.social · 29/09/2025

I'm not a lawyer, but I'm a ccmixter admin, and the sampling+ ought to "work" legally speaking.. once a track is released under it, you can always use it under those terms. It's kinda complicated, so I'm tagging @madamsnowflake.bsky.social in case she wants to chime in.

I like "fuck-all" as a synonym for "nothing" ".. Academy Award? That means fuck-all! "

I think Twitter updated their terms of service so that posting about anything other than Sydney Sweeney is no longer allowed.

Update: I've found a website that quotes the line as "broil" rather than boil. If that's the case, my apologies, RIP Marion. Still shouldn't have stolen all that money, yo.

010

mwic @mwic.bsky.social · 29/07/2025

Um... approximately 4:30 into Psycho, Marion invites Sam to a dinner where she and her sister will "boil a big steak for 3" Is this an early indication that Marion deserves to die? Or do British people do this?

Hey, congrats. If you've heard of ccMixter, we would love to have you write for us.. we don't have a ton of money or anything, but supporting musicians is worth a pay cut, no? :)

How is she doing? Have you talked to her recently?

I feel seen. I was probably 15 or 16, but I wrote a letter to the editor about the press conference announcing David Souter as a Supreme Court Justice appointment.

I'm a fan of hacktivism, but the form says it should be used "to report illegal discriminatory practices at institutions of learning" .. isn't a raid on this form potentially obscuring legit complaints about actual discrimination?

I was waiting for "girls should not be in school, because some instructors would feel guilty about dispensing the obviously-100%-necessary abuse required for education."

Update. Finished : Silas Marner (masterpiece) Romola (Very Very good, maybe a masterpiece) First 26 sonnets.

Fun fact: two of last night's #Grammy winners (Post Malone and Norah Jones) grew up in Grapevine, TX -- which is also the headquarters of Gamestop, Concerned Parent of North Texas (@zachrunsthings.bsky.social ), and Benny Hinn. Lively little town; you should visit.

Have you read "The Daughters of Kobani"? It's about women who fight Nazis (ISIS, in this case) until they are six feet in the ground. Best nonfiction book I've read in quite awhile.

Tag should be #YPJ sorry about that

#Booksky I finally know a little bit about Syria, thanks to the best nonfiction book I've read in several months: Last month, Turkey banned this book about the #YJP soldiers who helped defeat ISIS.

Silas Marner (3rd time) This is the year I realized I prefer George Eliot over Austen (whom I love with all my heart)

000

mwic @mwic.bsky.social · 19/01/2025

Hello. My goal this year is to read all the works of Shakespeare and George Eliot. Finished so far: Henry VI part 1, Two Gentlemen/Verona, Taming/Shrew Adam Bede. Not doing Mill on the Floss because I read that less than 1 year ago.
