When I joined Mastodon and mindly.social in November 2022, a US-based server felt right. But political times have changed, and a non-US-based server seems like a better idea. I used mastodon.help/instances to search since it allows me to search on server size (I want a medium-sized […]

Back at the Kahala Theater, now to see Sentimental Value, the last Best Picture nominee I need to see. It's from Norway, and is also nominated for Best Director, Best Actress, Best Original Screenplay, and five more nominations. I just finished watching the director's Oslo trilogy yesterday […]

At the Kahala Theater to see Marty Supreme. Of the likely Best Picture nominees, there will be three more (the foreign language ones, which are harder or more expensive to see) remaining after this. I'll find a way before the Oscar ceremony. #cinemastodon #movies #MartySupremeMovie

At the Dole Cannery theater to see One Battle After Another, after missing it when it had its earlier run. This is also an experiment with open captions in a movie theater for a movie in English. I use captions on TV/streaming very frequently, so I'm expecting it to feel normal, but we'll see […]

@bettycjung.bsky.social Yes, good medical care, but I'll be on blood thinners for 6+ months. I listen to the Osterholm report from CIDRAP, and his argument is that because flu shot effectiveness wanes, getting it too early means it won't be very good when you really need it. I think there is […]
