The choice is obvious: the Siel MDP-40 aka the "Greatest Worst Drum Machine Ever Made"

A photo of the Siel MDP-40 drum machine, a digital sample based drum machine made by the Italian electric organ and synth manufacturer Siel. It is an incredibly basic preset-based drum machine with incredibly low quality samples, although it actually has MIDI both for syncing and for being sequenced externally.

g r e y d a n c e r I almost lost this in an unfortunate power outage due to Missouri's "fantastic" electrical grid (fantastic with HUGE sarcasm quotes). But I've been listening to too much 90s atmospheric drum & bass so this happened #synthsky #drum&bass #jam #music #synthesizers #furrymusician

15 minutes or so in Audacity (coupled with another 5 minutes in Paint.Net for the mock cover) and I have a mediocre mockup of what mixing "Gypsy Woman (La Da Dee La Da Da)" and "Urban Fragments" might sound like

I burned 20 CDs to pass around at #LVFC and fully expected to come home with like... half of them I only have one as of tonight, and i still don't leave until tomorrow morning ... I'm fucking shocked

A little "test pressing" of what I'm gonna be passing out at LVFC

To be fair, at least it is another drum machine I can program Blue Monday into. Because every drum machine I own WILL have Blue Monday programmed into it. It's mandatory.

On one hand, I feel a bit sad for banishing my N Scale model trains from my Studio. On the other, though, I can finally have my little "experimentation corner". Or, well, a spot to mess with stuff I don't keep in my main setup #synthesizer #synth #synthsky

My TD-3 is my primary acid workhorse, but it's merely one member of my collection of 303's/303-alikes

A photo of all of the synths I own that either are recreations/clones of the classic Roland TB-303, or are inspired by the TB-303. From left to right starting at the top:

- Twisted Elections acid8 (mk. I)
- Roland T-8
- Korg Volca Bass
- Korg Volca Nubass
- Roland TB-3
- Behringer TD-3
- Roland TB-03

While I haven't hooked it up and played it in years (something I need to fix badly), I have NO intention whatsoever of selling my Ensoniq EPS Classic. It's such a straightforward and easy to learn keyboard sampler. Ridiculously fun yet powerful to boot.

A photo of my Ensoniq EPS Classic, a late-80s keyboard sampler. It's currently leaning against a wall in my studio and sadly has a fair amount of dust on it too.

"Come With Us" -- The Chemical Brothers It's a strong toss up between "Come With Us" or "Dig Your Own Hole" for my favorite Chemical Brothers album, but "Come With Us" squeaks out in front just a little. I blame "Star Guitar" and "The Test". But it's just a great album as a whole too.

The album cover to The Chemical Brothers' "Come With Us". The cover is a striking mix of red with yellow paint spatters radiating out from a spot just slightly to the upper-left of the center. A silhouette of a person can be seen inside of the center of the paint splatter. "The Chemical Brothers' is written in the group's usual stylized font in the upper left of the cover, and "COME WITH US" is up in the upper right.

"Tripomatic Fairtytales 2001" -- Jam & Spoon I have a soft spot for early-Trance. You know, before the JP-8K & arpeggiating Supersaws took over? "Tripomatic Fairytales 2001" is a fantastic album of early Trance (with a dash of Eurodance) from one of the bigger names of that early scene.

The album cover to Jam & Spoon's "Tripomatic Fairytales 2001". The artwork depicts an almost genie-like figure comprised of the two members of the group melded together. One of their faces comprises the left-side of the head, the other the right-side of their head, and the figure is sitting cross-legged with its arms up and hands tilted horizontally with the palms facing upwards. Three wisps of curvy flame/smoke eminate from the bottom of the figure. The rest of the cover is simply solid white. The group name and a portion of the album title ("tripomatic fairytales") are written on the very top of the cover, while the "2001" is centered in the middle of the figure.

"Orbital" (aka "The Brown Album") -- Orbital If this album were "Lush 3" & "Impact (the Earth is Burning)" just by themselves it would be amazing. But luckily it's a killer tracklist from start to finish. Orbital is another favorite group of mine for a reason, and The Brown Album is that reason.

The album cover for Orbital's 2nd album, confusingly called "Orbital" just like the first album. It's often instead referred to as "The Brown Album" due to the brown-ish color of its cover to differentiate it from the first album, aka "The Green Album" due to its green-ish color. The Brown Album, as stated before, is mostly brown in color with an abstract image of some sort of bodily organs surrounded by electron orbitals similar to what the now outdated scientific diagrams of atoms looked like. The band name is within a small oval at the top, and the track list is written down the left-hand side complete with the time lengths of all the songs.

"The Mollusk" -- Ween Ween is a much more recent obsession of mine, and... well, the hype that surrounds "The Mollusk" exists for a reason. It flails wildly between genres and tones but somehow manages to still feel coherent and whole. It's weird, sometimes whiplash-inducing, but fucking brilliant.

The album cover for Ween's "The Mollusk". Set against an ocean-like deep seagreen background; the main image is a bizarre amalgamation of different sea creatures mashed together in an almost disturbing manner. Fish heads, crab legs, small silver fish, tentacles, gills, antennae, and so forth all combine together in a recognizable yet still nonsensical mass.

"Electric Café" / ”Techno Pop" -- Kraftwerk Another album that didn't do great on release, but IMHO "Electric Café" is one of Kraftwerk's absolute best albums. It's bizarre and esoteric and (much like YMO's "Technodelic") very ahead of its time. I adore it.

The album cover for Kraftwerk's "Electric Café" (later retitled to "Techno Pop" in modern re-releases). The cover features disembodied low-poly 3D renders of the heads of the band's members all looking in different directions. Their skin is a blueish-white, hair is various shades of blueish-brown, and all of their lips are a deep red. The four heads are floating against a black/dark-blue background. To the upper-left, the album title and band name are featured in a grey box in a font reminiscent of vintage LED segmented-digit displays.

"Behaviour" -- Pet Shop Boys The fact that this album was considered a commercial flop at the time hurts my soul so hard. The opening track "Being Boring" is the best thing PSB has ever done, and the rest feels far more personal than most PSB stuff. It's beautiful and underrated AF.

The album cover for the Pet Shop Boys album "Behaviour". Most of the cover is white except for a small set of four photos in the center. The upper left features both band members Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe holding massive bouquets of flowers. The upper right has a front-on image of Neil Tennant's face, the lower left a shot of the back of Chris Lowe's head. The lower right image shows an empty chair and two large bouquets of flowers sitting on the ground.

Below the set of photos are simple lines of black text with the album name & artist name.

"Experience" -- The Prodigy IMHO, nothing The Prodigy has done since "Music for the Jilted Generation" has hit as hard as their earlier work. And "Experience" is 90's hardcore rave at its best. If you want to see some of the stupidest white-guy dancing imaginable, put this album on when I'm around

The album cover for The Prodigy's first album "Experience". it's a very minimalist cover, simply featuring "PRODIGY" in big black text in the middle, "THE" in a small oval-shaped bubble to the upper-right of the main text, and "EXPERIENCE" in an oval-shapped bubble directly below the main text. All of the text is in front of a white background.

"Technodelic" -- Yellow Magic Orchestra It's not one of their more "famous" albums, but I fucking love how anachronistic "Technodelic" sounds. It does NOT sound like something released in 1981, and its more simple sample-heavy minimalism is fabulous stuff.

The album cover to the Yellow Magic Orchestra album "Technodelic". It's a simple, striking contrast of bright red on the left half & black/dark grey on the right half. Overlayed over the left half is a greyscale image of a woman appearing to be clapping and excited. The title of the album is written in a futuristic pixelated font (which is, interestingly enough, also called "Technodelic") in all caps to the left of the woman's face, and "YMO" is written in the same font to the right of her face.

"Low-Life" -- New Order The first album of theirs I found on vinyl when I simultaneously started getting into NO & started getting into collecting records. It's a fantastic piece of synthpop & dance rock, even if Bernard's vocals can be... rough at times. But I kinda love that

The cover of New Order's 3rd studio album "Low-Life". Said cover features a grayscale image of the band's drummer Stephen Morris looking pensive. The band's name is written with the text at a 90-degree angle on the right hand side of the cover, with the 'new" in a darker font and partially overlaid over "Order".

A fun fact is "Low-Life" is the only New Order album that features any photos of the band members whatsoever on its cover and/or liner notes.

I have given Krystal a friend in my studio. OwO Art is a suuuppeer old piece by @rainbowwave.bsky.social . Got it at the first Furry con I went to back in 2017 (FurSquared to be specific)!

A photo of the wall of my studio. Two wall scrolls are hung up depicting furry girls in swimsuits. The right is art of the character Krystal from StarFox in a one-piece swimsuit, while to the right is RanbowWave's orca-dragon girl "Penelope" in a bikini.

A closer shot of the wall scroll featuring RainbowWave's orca-dragon girl "Penelope". She's floating on her back in a non-descript body of water wearing nothing but a two-piece bikini swimsuit that is black-colored with blue vertical stripes. She's looking at the viewer, one of her arms curled next to her side and her right hand facing toward the viewer, pointer finger and thumb extended.

I mean it when I say cheap 80's digital reverbs too. From everything I can gather, the Korg DRV-1000 was a budget unit back in its day. And they don't go for much today either (mine was only $100 at a Music Go Round)

A photo of my rack setup, focusing on the Korg DRV-1000 digital reverb effects unit. The DRV-1000 was a budget rackmount reverb effect unit released in 1986, competing against the likes of the Alesis Midiverb at the time.

Alternatively (based on the fact I actually own one of these and not a Juno-60, heh) ...

A variation of the "Geordi doesn't approve/does approve" meme.

In the upper left corner, the character Geordi La Forge from Star Trek: the Next Generation is waving his hand as if he isn't interested in something. The upper right corner features an image of the character Juno from the anime & manga Beastars, thus implying Geordi doesn't want her.
In the lower left corner, Geordi is pointing towards his right and has a more interested look on his face. In the lower right is an image of a vintage Roland Alpha-Juno 1 synthesizer. Thus implying Geordi wants the Alpha-Juno synthesizer and not the Juno character.
