This is getting heavy Doc!” I had a blast at the Portland Retro Gaming Expo today celebrating one of my favorite films in its 40th anniversary year!

PAX West 2025 is in the books and is without question the best convention I have ever been to. I had so much fun with so many wonderful friends. From meeting the incomparable Ben Starr on Friday to the army of baguettes for Clair Obscur, to Bioshock Infinite cosplay it was pure joy for 4 days 💚

Meeting the one and only Ben Starr at PAX? Simply incredible 💚

It’s PAX West this week! My first time going and I can’t wait! So let’s lift some heavy shit in the meantime 💚

I’m not really a gamer who goes after or cares about trophies or achievements, so I think this may be my first platinum ever! Love this game 💚

“Truth, justice, and a better tomorrow.” I’ve always stayed away from this suit when doing Superman cosplay in the past. It’s the version of the character that means the most to me. The one that I watched over and over again as a child with my mother. My mom is smiling. I know she is 💚

So business is suddenly going very well! While I’m trying to stay practical about the inconsistencies of owning a small business, I think this feels like the momentum I’ve been waiting for. 🐾

Fantastic Four was excellent! Between this and Superman, it feels really good to see some real earnestness come back to these films. 💚

When the punk ass executor leaves the game after dying at the beginning of day 2 and you and the Raider bring it home against Everdark Fulton anyway 😤

Nightreign can be so epic sometimes 😎

I got distracted by Everdark bosses, but I finally finished off the final boss and rolled credits on Wylder’s ending in Nightreign! Man I love this game.

Can you imagine the “get good” nonsense? People trying to learn the game would be immediately put off. Not to mention the usual salad of abuse and racial slurs. No thanks. Game works just fine without that. If you want voice chat, play with friends. ☺️

010 1

Ryan Parker @mustachemanatee.bsky.social · 19/06/2025

I was horrendous at this game 😂

110 1

Ryan Parker @mustachemanatee.bsky.social · 19/06/2025

Maybe this is a hot take, but I’m glad Nightreign doesn’t have open voice chat. It’s honestly not needed and given the nature of the game, and can you imagine the level of toxicity that would be present in those chats?? No they made the right call.

Soul Blazer! Illusion of Gaia gets most of the attention from that “trilogy” but Soul Blazer is a banger with killer gameplay and an epic soundtrack!

My buddy Jeff and I had a truly blessed night on Nightreign last night! 3/3 on Night Lords! We took down Augur, Libra, and Fissure in the Fog on our first tries! Elden Lord shit 😎

It’s my 7 year training anniversary today. The first photo was taken about a month after I starting lifting in 2018. The second one just a week ago. I was only 128lbs when I started. Hard to believe. Here’s to another 40 years of lifting heavy shit and walking everywhere 💪
