Mostly letting off steam - steer clear if you want to avoid politics! But you can’t avoid it sadly, more now than ever 🙁 Also cricket, chess, interesting stuff from sane people… Support Ukraine. Buy shares in history professors. No DMs.

The Daily Mailus often right wing fascist trash. But it is still true that they generally don’t pull their punches and that includes targeting their political “allies”. Fox News they are not.

Just like how the strong centrist message to win over Never Trumpism republicans swept Harris to victory over an appalling candidate i guess…

By the time he’s finished with the country, there will probably be the votes to pass constitutional amendments retrospectively voiding any pardons he has given out.

Wish him well, but if recovery may “take longer than expected” a mere one day after surgery, then perhaps one might question where the “expectations” came from!

Notwithstanding the debating impacts and of the last couple of nights, it is at least encouraging that both sides appear desperate to avoid being given responsibility for what happened. In such circumstances one would hope that there is a greater chance of a reversal.

Basically the best way to combat misinformation is to tackle it head on and educate people about it loudly.

Attacking Elon Musk’s attempt to buy elections is the easiest motivation to drive people to the polls. People can argue and delude themselves about who has the best policies to tackle affordability etc. But nobody likes the idea that their vote doesn’t count and is being bought by the super wealthy.

Because the got caught, or because she didn’t pro-actively flaunt it as a badge of pride? What the Trump years have revealed is that the press and public don’t care as long as you are open about it. Gives new meaning to the convention of “the coverup being worse than the crime”.

Wonder if any other of the multiple Trump appointees routinely committing criminality have cause to think that their pardons are not guaranteed…

It’s probably even ethically borderline confirming that he wasn’t there because it creates potential open season on genuine patients.

Of all the hundreds (thousands?) of rehab centres in the country they just happened to call a random one in Ohio(!) that Talarico was hiding in. Incredible!

Nothing says”I’m doing what’s right for the country irrespective of popular opinion” like planning military action to avoid the midterms.

”…based on the condition of their refineries”. This little clause shows that this is not about genuinely securing oil supplies, but trying to implicate Ukraine for surge in prices and loss of voter support. Only question now is when US moves to next step of actually supplying Russia with weapons s.

President Trump has provided zero assistance to Ukraine, and actively sort to undermine them at every turn, and only held back at all because of public support for Ukraine, or to line his own pockets. You can’t be an ingrate when you’ve got nothing to be grateful for.

How bad could it get for the GOP? At the extreme. Bad enough to give Dems power to change the constitution?

I read it was only about a days supply anyway. And then Russia won’t actually supply even this small amount and it will “all be Ukraine’s fault”.

It’s like she thinks she should get credit for “moderating” the impact of a Republican majority. She can’t comprehend the reality that the Republicans are often only even in the majority because of her election and vote. So she is only ever allowed to “moderate” but never oppose.

Is he referring to Trump, he who literally managed to somehow reinvent himself on The Apprentice, the show where his entire status was supposed to be based on the idea that he was a good judge of who to hire?

First idea was to send him to swing states, but had to ditch that for obvious reasons. So they thought that it was safe to send him to deep red states. Turns out that was misjudged as well. So they’ve hit upon a solution of keeping him busy in safe BLUE states. He really can’t do much damage there.

"I didn't vote to convict, because no President has ever been convicted in an impeachment trial", is one way to diss the Constitution, i suppose. I guess the founders just stuck the impeachment clauses in for a laugh? And pretend Nixon didn't resign to avoid impeachment and conviction...

The problem with all these people is that they are so poorly read, that they think that they are constantly coming out with original thoughts and arguments that mark themselves out as great thinkers and geniuses. As opposed to basic starter topics for introduction to debating classes.

You know what, even ignoring the fact that Iran didn’t have a nuclear weapon, were previously being contained in getting one (even assuming they wanted one), even if they did get one the likelihood that they would use it wouldn’t have been high. Just like everyone else since 1945.
