I'm in urgent need of dental surgery and will unfortunately have to pay out of pocket; I've just moved states and am now uninsured. I hate asking for help publicly, but please share even if you're unable to donate. thank you and God bless #mutualaid #trans #queer #emergencyfund gofund.me/13704a402

slayyyter album is pretty cool she takes after gaga very obviously but doesn't have the thing that gaga has of taking after madonna so she sheds chance of being simulacrum of madonna

when i arrange our songs for live stuff i start thinking about how limited vintage recording options were, like how sgt pepper's lonely hearts club band was recorded on a four track that theyd have to constantly mix down . now i can just sacrifice like 30 channels for sound fx and singular drum hits

after 9 months since removing as much of my music from spotify as possible, heres some thoughts for anyone considering the same

your music will still be discovered

the majority of listeners, especially for small artists, are actually just plays from bot networks. this is a particular problem for spotify due to its insistence on having a free ad-supported tier, which opens the floodgate for bots as there is little barrier to entry

financially i have taken a hit but we're talking maybe £40 in royalties per year? payout rates have been horrendous and many ppl still on spotify are struggling to get paid regularly

seems its still full steam ahead for daniel ek's monstrous plan to eventually replace human-made music with ai slop (sorry, i meant 'Perfect Fit Content') as editorial playlists and curation features continue to swell with ai generated music and artists

spotify is willing to let anyone advertise on their platform, with recruitment adverts from violent armed militias (ICE) being shown to users

would i go back? never

I often think about Araki's description of the Midwest from his time here doing research for Steel Ball Run. I think he nailed it.

The Sense of Distance: Japan versus the American Midwest

JoJo’s seventh story arc, Steel Ball Run, involves a race across America, but I knew that undertaking that journey by myself in one single trip would have been impossible. Instead, I split up the research into three sections: from the West Coast to the deserts, from the Great Plains to the Mississippi River and Chicago, and to the finish line in New York. Each region possesses its own culture and is home to different types of people.

Without going there for yourself, it’s impossible to comprehend the feeling of scale in the midwestern United States, where the scenery stretches on forever and unchanging. The feeling of distance there is nothing like Japan. Say, for example, an enemy is approaching from afar -- at such a distance that escape would be trivial in Japan. In the Midwest, the open landscape remains identical from one hour to the next, and I was struck by the real sense that I could never make an escape from such an adversary; there was simply nowhere to hide. I was able to put that experience to good use when it came time to draw the manga.

Travel there is mostly done by car. When you drive across those vast plains, the scenery is mostly devoid of any ups and downs, and is dotted only by the occasional town with nothing to claim but chain stores, seemingly little to provide amusement aside from watching movies, and you hardly ever see anyone else about. Rather than inspire thoughts of enjoying nature, it felt empty and lifeless and made me wonder if there was any fun to living there at all. A kind of atmosphere hung over these places that felt rich for suspense.

A trans woman was just sentenced to 15 years in prison for defending herself from an attacker. She wanted no part in the fight and witnesses described her actions as self-defense. With right-wing media constantly portraying her as "evil" since the incident, the trial was over before it began.
