I gave the collection to The Holocaust Museum in Seattle to look at, took them a year to get through the material, some pieces were included in their museum collection. I guess it would be smart to include in other archives but the Holocaust Museum was definitely my first stop.

Sharing 2 more. The red circled letter is from the Brigadier General, Chief of the Psychological Warfare Division to an officer in the Psychological Warfare unit, who sent copies to members of the unit, including to my grandfather. The other letter is from the officer to all members of the unit.

Thank you. I have considered this as his story is remarkable and well documented. Here’s his humorous 2 cents on sleeping in the same tent as Hemingway. No one in my family had any idea until I read these letters in 2015. If you know of a publisher who might be interested, I’d love to know!

He sent over 117 descriptive letters to her, I have photos that correspond with what he wrote. It was an amazing story to discover and unfold because when he came back from the war, he never talked about the war. My living family would have no idea about the majority of his experiences. Floored!

My grandfather was a civilian photographer in WWII. I discovered a box of his letters he wrote to my grandmother that she saved immaculately. I was floored! One letter was written about V-E Day and photographing Hermann Goring and the other about photographing the liberation of Dachau.
