We had our monthly meeting of the Westminster Cycling Campaign on Monday night, just four days after the elections. There was a lot to discuss, as you might imagine. The Conservatives have reclaimed control of Westminster council, securing 32 seats to Labour’s 22. And .. 1/9

@elliechowns.bsky.social responds to proposed expansion of Israeli military control in Gaza.
A black quote graphic with a quote from Ellie Chowns, Green MP for North Herefordshire.
The quote reads: Netanyahu’s directive to expand Israeli military control over 70% of the Gaza Strip is horrifying.
“The UK Government must act immediately: unequivocally condemn any attempt to seize more territory or ethnically cleanse Gaza, insist on full compliance with the ceasefire and international law, and demand unimpeded humanitarian access to Gaza at scale. It must also halt all arms sales to and military cooperation with the Israeli Government, drive independent investigations into war crimes, and impose sanctions on government officials responsible for breaches of international law.”

After 73 days, Heba, Kamran and Lewie have ended their hunger strikes. For weeks, tens of thousands of us have been begging Lammy to meet with their lawyers. They had ample time to respond, but did not listen. The government still refuses to engage.
Text that reads
"After 73 days, Heba, Kamran and Lewie have ended their hunger strikes. They, along with their brave fellow prisoners who were also striking, have pushed their bodies to the absolute limit and will likely have long term health consequences as a result. Umer is still on hunger strike.
But their efforts were not in vain. Their hunger strike ends with the announcement that Elbit Systems UK was denied a £2 billion contract with the Ministry of Defence - one of their key demands.
For weeks, tens of thousands of us have been begging Lammy to meet with their lawyers. They had ample time to respond, but did not listen. The government still refuses to engage.
We know that this is not the end. We stand in solidarity with those fighting for the people of Palestine"

Regent's canal is a popular🚴‍♀️route - efficient, vehicle free & scenic. But cycling after dark vs during the day feels a vastly different proposition. How socially safe would you feel here at night? @londoncycling.bsky.social volunteers tested 2 new proposed routes to bypass the canal ⬇️

👀 Check out this splendid road in central London, with enough room for cycle tracks and floating parking! It’s ideal for a cycleway and @citywestminster.bsky.social and @transportforlondon.bsky.social agree - planning the C51 extension here BUT now a campaign threatens to derail it. Full story⬇️
