I just wish it had been sooner. My 90 year old mother has a patchwork quilt of care to enable her to live independently. But it is expensive and has a huge cost to her daughters, two of whom have retired early to care for her. We are all tired but grateful that she still enjoys life.

I was working for one month in Vietnam and had space to take a single book. I had to ration myself to a chapter a day when I wanted to devour it in one sitting. I still have it on my shelves. I must get the sequel.

I am so sorry. My sisters and I currently care for our mother at home, with two of us having given up work to do so. We are grateful that the disease caught her later in life compared to her siblings but we know that genetics means it is likely our future too. Who knows what the future holds.

Thank you; he was a lovely man. We are ill prepared for the heat and, just as globally the poorest among us are hardest hit, so too nationally. After a minimum wage night shift job, walking home in the heat because there was no public transport on a Sunday, the physical strain was simply too much.

I lost my lovely brother, an 'excess death', in the heat of July 2022. Today I am worried for all those families who will lose people they love over the next few days and my heart breaks.

It's just another way of saying she loves you.

My worst was on the airfield in Bamako as the pilot drove around the airfield 'checking whether the brakes will hold'. We did three emergency stops before he decided they would be 'good enough ' and we took off for Schipol!

Only 1 in 3 primary schools in Brighton and Hove have filled their reception places for September 2026! While the city has been aware and dealing with these trends for a decade, central government seems oblivious. High housing costs are incompatible with starting a family here.

I was a child in the usa in the 60s and 70s. As well as fire alarm tests at school we had nuclear tests - different bell - during the latter we were instructed to hide under our desks!

Try a Hyundai i40. A little bit wide but easy to drive. Very roomy, even for back seat passengers (our 6'2"" boys), and an enormous boot. Bought nearly new in 2014 and still a dream car which has taken multiple children to and from university, completed house moves, and carried the team cricket kit.

Best choice ever. We have been eating Geta's for years! Delicious.

I have resigned from the party and am so disgusted. I used to put in so much work doing things like canvassing, leafletting, polling station work, get out the vote tasks etc etc. I am deeply ashamed.

I tore up my membership card a few months ago. I have campaigned for Labour for 40 years and done lots of work in between elections and on election days. I am in despair at what the party has become. I feel bereft. My children, now adult, were all members and have all now left, too.

Congratulations. I know how hard you must work for it every day. My beautiful brother achieved sobriety after 35 years. I am so proud of him. Sadly, I lost him unexpectedly three years ago but my pride shines strong.

Hurray. I have been furious about this for years. It extends the reach of the right wing press.

I got so close to leaving over the benefits cuts but thought I would give them one more chance. I have now left in despair at the lack of opposition to the racism and a failure to defend immigrants and asylum seekers.

Absolutely. I resigned my labour membership yesterday in despair.

In our house they are known as Healeys, in honour of Dennis. My husband now has his own collection as four became forty.

And my lovely mum, who is 89 today. She is a reminder that every one of us is special, even if we have never composed great music, wrote wonderful novels, or painted beautiful pictures. It is enough to move through the world with kindness and grace.

We had a parent each, followed by pancakes and dinner in the evening. Total cost less than 500 quid. Forty years and still going strong.

A currency. Commonly found in many ancient societies in SSA. The time taken to knock the hole is the labour value of the currency

That privilege costs money amd contributes to the US balance of payments. Unbelievably short sighted!

My 88 year old Irish mother moved to London at age 18. She struggled to find a room to rent and tells her grandchildren of those signs. It is her living memory and lived experience. For those who want to know, she trained as a nurse and devoted her working years to the NHS.
