Found a nice example of a Noble False Widow (Steatoda nobilis) spider in our bathroom recently. Quite a good ‘skull’ on its abdomen. Not a very good image though; it was moving and the light was low. A few years ago, you would usually only find these in the south of England.

This is #Nottingham’s old Huntingdon Street School, on the edge of St Ann’s, circa 1909. My grandfather, Harold S Manterfield, is the middle boy in the second row from the back. I wonder how many of these lads served in the armed forces during the first world war and survived?
