We try to take care of our sexual health in so many ways, like getting regular STI screenings and using PrEP to prevent HIV infection. If you’re sexually active, getting both doses of the mpox vaccine is another great way to take care of yourself too. Ask your health care provider.

➡️ Know how to spot an overdose: ✅ They won’t wake up ✅ Slow/difficult breathing or no breathing ✅ Choking, gurgling or snoring sounds ✅ Fingernails or lip coloring changes - blue or gray looking ✅ Cold or clammy skin 🚨 If someone is overdosing, call 911 and use naloxone (Narcan) if you have it.
Know the signs of a fentanyl overdose. Won't wake up, They won’t wake up, Slow/difficult breathing or no breathing, Choking, gurgling or snoring sounds, Fingernails or lip coloring changes - blue or gray looking, Cold or clammy skin. If you see these signs, call 911 and follow their directions. Give naloxone. Stay until help arrives.

🌞 🌿Fernhill Certified Medical Assistants had a great time welcoming children to a coloring table at "2nd Summer at Fernhill" in Aug. The Fernhill Health Center & WIC held a street fair for clients & surrounding communities to learn about clinic program and partner offerings in the OC42 building.

As of today, Sept. 4, Oregon has reported 54 measles cases since the start of 2026. We encourage people to ensure they are protected against measles. 2 doses of the MMR vaccine are 97% effective in preventing measles. For more information, visit OHA’s measles: ow.ly/RQ4B50ZJzHj
Measles is spreading. Measles can cause severe disease in people of all ages. 1 out of 5 people who get measles will be hospitalized. 1 out of every 20 children with measles will get pneumonia, the most common cause of death from measles. 1 out of every 1,000 people with measles will develop brain swelling, which may lead to hearing loss and intellectual disability. 1 to 3 out of 1,000 people with measles will die. If you or your child has measles, seek medical care. Measles symptoms can cause serious health complications like pneumonia, swelling of hte brain, and even death.

Multnomah County Vector Control actively monitors for West Nile Virus throughout the summer months, most commonly spread by the bite of an infected mosquito. Most infections are flu-like but severe infections may cause brain inflammation. If detected in the County, the public will be notified.

If you have air conditioning, keep windows closed, set the AC to recirculate indoor air and run an air cleaner. If you do not have AC, open windows at night to cool your home, be sure to run an air cleaner to help filter out the smoke let inside.
