Alex Winter is in this? And he plays a dude named Bill?
Screen capture of the IMDb page for the film Primetine, where I have zoomed in on the actor portrait for Alex Winter, who apparently plays a character named Bill Conradt.

One of many things wealthy assholes can never comprehend is that there's a limit to what you can actually buy with money. Normal humans want to help each other!
Another highlight from the quoted post above, where an ex-contractor explains "I felt no joy in the work or that I was contributing to society in any way."

Snippet of Ed Zitron's latest free newsletter, titled "Hyperscale Normalization"

There's more text, but the part I highlighted says: "Their excitement about Enron was entirely based on how big its numbers were, even if there was little plausible explanation of how it made money, let alone how the numbers got that big."

Hear me out: Fast and Furious but with trains instead of cars.
Snippet of Walt Hickey's Numlock Newsletter for August 18th. It reads as follows:

The train robbery is alive and well, with thefts from trains quadrupling since pre-pandemic times as sophisticated teams of thieves pivoted toward theft rings when the drug trade dried up during lockdowns. All told, criminals stole $200 million worth of goods from 75,000 thefts on U.S. freight rail networks in 2025.

I love how the CCP green-lit a movie about a musical hound saving Tibet from the CCP, but they scrubbed the script so it doesn’t name Tibet or the CCP. It’s a heartwarming tale about nothing I guess.

Barbara Fried went on CNN to say of her son Sam Bankman-Fried, and this is quoted here by @molly.wiki in today’s Citation Needed newsletter: “Trump… should regard him as a huge asset…”. Well, that’s pretty close to the truth, which is that SBF should be regarded as a huge ass-hat.
Screenshot from a snippet of today’s Citation Needed newsletter, most of which is a quote of Barbara Fried talking on CNN. “I think that Sam was the victim of an out of control prosecution… If he is free to live… the life he wants would be of enormous benefit to the economy, to a lot of things Trump cares about in this world, and that he ought to regard Sam as a huge asset going forward for the country.” I have highlighted the words “Trump ought to regard Sam as a huge asset”

For context, the local news stations run “polls” all the time. They require no login so they always have tens of thousands of votes, probably majority spam bots, and they’ll show 90% in favor of Trump. Today they asked if you’d support cutting social security, and 96% said no.
