It’s always great to connect with other writers and share ideas along the way. :) I’d love to hear more about your WIP. What’s the premise you’re working with? And what kind of things would you enjoy discussing or learning from other writers in the community?

Absolutely, follow the good flow while you have it! Sometimes that excitement is exactly what you need. You can always come back to the other story when you feel ready for it. I’m definitely curious to see where this new one takes you. 😊

if you ever feel like the doubts about the old WIP are what’s keeping you stuck, would you be open to getting an outside perspective on it? Sometimes having someone else look at the story can help you figure out whether there’s actually something not working or if it’s just the doubt talking.

Honestly, I think that’s a pretty healthy way to look at it. If the new story is making you excited to write again, I’d definitely follow that energy rather than forcing yourself through the other one. Sometimes stepping away gives you a clearer head anyway.

Honestly, I think sometimes a new story shows up at exactly the right time. If you’re excited about it, maybe it’s worth enjoying that excitement for a bit instead of forcing yourself back into the other one. What do you think is making the current WIP feel so difficult to get back into?

That’s the kind of distraction that’s probably impossible to resist once a new story starts demanding your attention. Sometimes the story you’re stuck on just needs to be left alone for a little while. What pulled you toward this new one?

The Star Carrier sounds like one of those elements that could really shape the world. Is it something that plays a major role in the story, or is it more of a background piece that helps define the setting?

That’s a really interesting approach. I think that balance is important, especially with sci-fi where it’s easy to get lost in building every little detail of the world. Focusing on the things that actually affect the story probably makes the setting feel more meaningful too.

It’s a tough stage, but it’s also where a lot of the story’s growth happens. I hope you’re able to be a little kinder to yourself through the process. By the way, what kind of fantasy are you working on?

I’m really glad my words helped a little. 😊 And honestly, I think a lot of writers have those moments where they look at their draft and feel like nothing is working, especially during developmental edits when you’re pulling the whole story apart and rebuilding it.

I’m curious to see what you end up creating with it as the project grows. 👀

That actually makes a lot of sense. 😄 Having a way to create in-setting images whenever you need them seems like it would make promoting the project much easier, especially when you can use the same models to help visualize things while writing.

Your concept definitely sounds like something you’re passionate about exploring. 😊 I’d be interested in hearing more about it and learning what you’re looking for from someone reading along. How would you like to share more details about the project?

Honestly, that sounds like a pretty good excuse to finally attack the TBR :) What kind of editing has been keeping you so busy lately, revisions or more of a final polish?

Hey, I know we don’t know each other well, but I’m really sorry you’re going through this. Six years of rejection can wear anyone down, but that doesn’t make you a failure or a burden. I’m glad your cats have you, and I hope you’re able to give yourself some grace tonight. ❤️

A book sale and a paranormal thriller WIP? You’re making it dangerously easy to add more books to the TBR. :) How are you finding the writing side of "Sleep" so far?

These look really cool! 👀 There’s something about seeing the vehicles and setting take shape visually that makes a sci-fi world feel so much more real. Are you building these mainly to help visualize the world while writing, or are they becoming part of the project itself?

I actually like that Trikk prefers convenient magic over the more destructive stuff :) It makes him feel like the kind of character who’d rather find the clever shortcut than show off. Is that generally how he approaches problems, or is it just his attitude toward magic?

I was wondering, do you still need another person to help with any of the projects, or do you think you’re covered for now?

Rafiu Muiiz @muiiz.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
It sounds like you’ve got a good system coming together with splitting the projects between different readers. 😊 I’m glad you were able to find people who can help share the workload.

I’d love to be one of your go-to beta readers and critique partners. 😊 Would you be open to sharing a little more about your writing and what you’re currently working on via DM? I’d love to hear more!

I’d definitely be happy to be part of your writing journey. Would it be okay if I sent you a DM to learn more details about your book?

I’d love to know more about the project though. What genre is it? And are you planning to work with an editor at any point, or are you handling the entire editing process yourself for now?
010
Rafiu Muiiz @muiiz.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
I can definitely understand why editing feels like such a battle when you’re carrying the whole process yourself. 😂 It takes a lot of patience to go through your own work repeatedly and still keep the same excitement for the story.

Also, I saw your post about editing your WIP. It definitely sounds like you’ve been through the editing battlefield 😂 but it’s always satisfying when you see the story becoming stronger. What stage of the editing process are you currently at?

Rafiu Muiiz @muiiz.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
I’d go with "The XChange" 😊 It gives me a sleek, modern vibe and feels like a place where people come together for good conversations, music, and unexpected connections.

What’s been the biggest source of the struggle this time around? Plot changes, characters refusing to cooperate, or just the editing process itself? :)
000
Rafiu Muiiz @muiiz.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
Editing really does have a way of testing a writer’s patience. :) The “sweat, tears and tantrums” part sounds like the manuscript has been putting you through a full workout.

I’d definitely be interested in hearing more about "Southernpunk". :) I’d be happy to take a look if you’re still looking for beta readers. What’s the book about?

Your memoir sounds like a fascinating journey, especially with the connection to such important historical periods. I’d love to hear more about it and get a better understanding of what you’re looking for in beta reader feedback. How would you prefer to share more details about the book? :)

Hello, I’m very interested in beta reading your manuscript. Looking at the form, though, I wanted to be upfront that the kind of detailed feedback I provide is paid. Would you be open to that? If so, I’d be happy to start with a sample first.

Sending your book out to beta readers and looking into new cover options sounds like a big part of the transition process. :) Are you open to receiving a detailed beta reading assessment from a beta reader, or is your main focus right now finding someone to help with the cover update?

That’s nice! But it seems like I can’t DM you because of your account settings. :)

That sounds like quite the decision to weigh up 😅 I’d love to hear a little more about your book if you’re open to sharing. And if you’d like, I’d be happy to share some of my own experience with the publishing route you decide to go with as well. 😊

Hi! Thanks for the follow! I’m curious, what made you decide to start using Bluesky? I actually joined because one of my author clients introduced me to the platform as well. I can see you’re doing some editing right now. What kind of book are you working on? I’d love to hear a little about it!

That’s a great milestone! And lovely feedback from your copy editor. Once the copy editing is wrapped up, do you already have someone helping with proofreading and formatting, or are you still looking? I ask because I have a couple of work slots available. 😊

Rafiu Muiiz @muiiz.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
I’ve been thinking about this too. As an editor and beta reader, I prefer keeping the creative and editorial work human. Seeing so many organizations now promoting webinars on how to use AI can definitely be frustrating. 😅
110
Rafiu Muiiz @muiiz.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
That’s actually a really good realization. Getting feedback on the writing first could definitely save you a lot of time before diving into the web design. 😊 Are you still looking for an editor, or have you managed to get that part sorted out?
100
Rafiu Muiiz @muiiz.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
Sounds like you’ve been deep in the editing process 😂 What part of the book are you focusing on most right now, the story and characters or more of the line/copy editing?

Hello, I'd be glad to beta read your book :)

If you’d be open to getting some help with that, I can definitely read a chapter and give you some reader-perspective feedback on where the character feels engaging and where they start to feel distant. What kind of character are you trying to bring to life?
100
Rafiu Muiiz @muiiz.bsky.social · 25/09/2026
It’s okay to feel that way, especially when you’re still figuring out the character’s voice and how they naturally think and react on the page. Sometimes the issue isn’t first person itself, but that the character’s personality, thoughts, and reactions aren’t coming through strongly enough yet.
