mufinmcflufin.bsky.social @mufinmcflufin.bsky.social · 05/10/2026So many decisions that made MM into what we know and love now were only made because they had a very tight schedule to maintain. If they had more time to actually make the things that were eventually cut then they likely would have made a more traditional LoZ styled game instead of MM. 010 0
mufinmcflufin.bsky.social @mufinmcflufin.bsky.social · 29/09/2026I think that's a fair counterpoint. I feel like the title should default to the language that the user is using, but I didn't know MAL was based in Japan. I can definitely see why they'd consider the Japanese title to be the "Main Title" then. 001 0
mufinmcflufin.bsky.social @mufinmcflufin.bsky.social · 24/09/2026Most ROM hacks I've played usually use the same mapper as the original since you usually need to redo a lot of stuff by changing the mapper, but it's possible that the modded game simply couldn't fit on the cartridge using an MBC1 mapper. The mod dev may have some more information. 010 0
mufinmcflufin.bsky.social @mufinmcflufin.bsky.social · 24/09/2026Huh very interesting. Could try it with an official MBC5 using a flash ROM chip to see if the game is actually MBC5? It's also possible the game had different versions (like regional releases) that used different mappers, but that would be strange to change. 110 0
mufinmcflufin.bsky.social @mufinmcflufin.bsky.social · 24/09/2026If you imagine the gameboy data like a book, then it can only view one page at a time. The memory mapper takes a command to change what page of data the gameboy can see. They also usually handle other features some games had like an IR sensor, real time clock, or gyroscope like in one Kirby game! 010 0
mufinmcflufin.bsky.social @mufinmcflufin.bsky.social · 24/09/2026MBC5 is actually the model number of the memory mapper. I haven't taken a close look at the chips on your PCB, but usually that's the square chip on the left with pins on all four sides. Here's a list of every game that uses the MBC5 mapper: gbhwdb.gekkio.fi/cartridges/m...gbhwdb.gekkio.fiMBC5 - Game Boy hardware database 120 0

mufinmcflufin.bsky.social @mufinmcflufin.bsky.social · 24/09/2026PCB is an acronym meaning "Printed Circuit Board". Its the actual board that all of the electronic components are attached to. The "printed" part of it refers to how they put the tiny wire traces onto the board (among other things) which connects those electronic components. 010 0
mufinmcflufin.bsky.social @mufinmcflufin.bsky.social · 31/08/2026It reminds me of a tourbillion watch mechanism. From what I understand, the idea was watches may not have the most accurate timekeeping if they're regularly subjected to forces like when you're walking, so a tourbillion would rotate the timekeeping mechanism to try to average those inaccuracies out. 011 0
mufinmcflufin.bsky.social @mufinmcflufin.bsky.social · 29/08/2026That being said I don't know if it was using the same technology as this, as I doubt LIDAR would be able to accurately detect something as small and fast as mosquitos. 100 0
mufinmcflufin.bsky.social @mufinmcflufin.bsky.social · 29/08/2026If memory serves, Bill Gates showcased a technology some years ago I think at a Ted Talk that operated similarly, able to target and laser down mosquitos mid air. Was apparently confident enough in it to release hundreds of mosquitos on stage. 100 0

mufinmcflufin.bsky.social @mufinmcflufin.bsky.social · 21/08/2026In this video they're multiplying 1022 with 31 by setting the input to 1022, adjusting to the 10s digit (each crank will add 10 times), cranking it 3 times (multiplied by 30), adjusting back to the 1s digit, then cranking once. The 8 digit result counter shows it has been added 31 times. 020 0
mufinmcflufin.bsky.social @mufinmcflufin.bsky.social · 21/08/2026The whole upper section can be moved to rest on different digits so you can add something 10 times (aka multiply by 10), or 100, etc. The 8 digit part is the total number of additions/subtractions you've done, which is useful for division. 280 0
mufinmcflufin.bsky.social @mufinmcflufin.bsky.social · 21/08/2026It's fairly simple to use. The 11 slides are how you set the digits of the number you want to add, then you turn the crank once to add it to the number displayed on the top. Turn it again to add it again. The crank pulls out to do subtraction of your input number with each turn. 180 0

There are countless examples of games that succeeded despite (or because of) not using what modern tools were available. Everything he says reeks of bad faith arguments and pushing an AI agenda. 030 0
mufinmcflufin.bsky.social @mufinmcflufin.bsky.social · 25/06/2026It's also funny how he seems to think the AI tag will both cause a game to crash and burn but also not matter at all when applied to said games' competitors. mufinmcflufin.bsky.social @mufinmcflufin.bsky.social · 14/04/2026By "PVP is literally half of the game" are you referring to/including trainer battles? I agree that not every game should include every last Pokemon and that PVP is going to be a lot to some people, but I'd wager a lot of money that the vast majority of players barely touch online play. 040 0
