So here's the deal... a lot of Latinas have heard/said, "My mom said I can't sleep over because you've got brothers and dad and you never know..." and each mom has a rational basis. I suspect people have been talking about it for a long time, but the world at large simply didn't care.

Other parents would call for updates one the hiring process, asked about pay scale, tried to negotiate.. All while the applicant was hundreds of miles away. Not a damn one accepted "I cannot share that information." I thought I was just unlucky, but nah. I've heard similar stuff where I am now.

I had two brothers as potential candidates. Passed on one bc he didn't met the submission date. Dad came to my plant office to insist the guy was too busy w/ life. Dad showed up w/ the other, who did have an actual interview, demanded to be in the interview & our notes. HR made me reject the guy.

Yea. It's wild. One of the guys, 19, straight up told me he didn't want the job, but his mom said he had to apply since he got booted from Texas Tech. Job required active enrollment. She dragged him back for an interview & wanted me to explain why he was rejected. 3x...

Things the parents did: *Gave their kids date/times of interviews for other candidates *showed up to those interviews trying to get candidate resumes *showed up with their adult kids to "convince" me they deserved interviews *demanded rejection info But emails to our C-suites was the best.

Oooo...this actually started before Gen Z. My experience is with younger millennial. Overbearing parents ≠ busted, entitled adults. I declined to hire a handful of guys (18-20) years ago for my "grow a nuke" student program. The parents worked for the same company and shit got wild.

I've worked outside in -4° to - 8° weather in TX and WA. Bearable, but un-fucking-pleasant and entry level danger zone conditions. My fav part is when cold wear creates heat related illnesses*. (my entire dept was the safety topic that month)
