An octopus at night. To the right of the shot is the black sea with small white dots of "marine snow". To the left is a yellow- toned beige octopus with a yellow eye and open syphon on the side. The mantle of the octopus appears to have an injury, possibly from a spear. The suckers of one tentacle can be seen tucked underneath the octopus and they are a beautiful, almost iridescent, lilac.

The face of a fish fills most of the frame. It is a rectangle sort of face with red and blue patterns, like mandala dots and quite large human-like white and pink lips. The large eyes are on the sides of the head and not properly seen in this picture because of the front-facing position of the fish in relation to the camera. Two yellow and red fins prop up the fish from underneath whilst the pectoral fins have adapted into large wing-like structures to the sides of the dominating head. Dorsal spines lead down to the tail right at the back and out of focus.

September 2023 Fried egg jelly fish

A yellow jelly fish illuminated by the sun. The underside is made up of a branched yellow body, white slim tentacles and purple dots at the end of the tentacle. These jellyfish are harmless to humans and beautiful to look at.

An upright pole is in the foreground and is in full colour because of the artificial light on it. It is covered in coloured sponges, hydroids and algae. In the very centre is on orange starfish. In the background everything is blue. The deck of the metal ship has been blown away.

Everything is blue owing to the lack of natural light at this depth. We are looking at the bow of a metal merchant ship which had been destined to carry Italian explosives and weapons to Africa. Several small fish scatter the frame.

From the inside of the metal merchant ship we can see and upright pole in the foreground and the port side of the ship in the distance. The panels and ceiling of the ship have corroded to let light spill through.

We can see the mangled starboard side of the ship where the blast was centred from above. Several upright girders are twisted and curved.

The curvy edges of the clam shell are around 1.5 cm apart. This is a live clam shell so inside we can see folds of pale membranes. The shell has algae growing on it. There is a shrimp inside but you can only see it if you know it is there!

A small orange and hairy crab with long upturned legs, an orangutan crab, hides amongst the white speckled tentacles of an anemone. The crab is around 3cm wide.

A small cream crab with uniform brown speckles, long transparent antennae and large pincers (a porcelain crab) hides amongst the purple tipped with green tentacles of an anemone. The crab is around 5cm wide. We can only see half of the crab, the rest is fully obscured by the anemone tentacles.

An bright orange fish with thick white stripes outlined in thin black (a clownfish) and black eyes hides amongst the grey tentacles of an anemone. The clown fish is around 5cm long.

A small transparent shrimp with very long antennae and blue and white pincers, tail and facial dots and pink and white eyes balances between two anemone tentacles. The shrimp is around 1 cm long.
