the French have never had camaraderie with the American revolutionary movement, not even once

DESSICARE Inc's website used to host an FAQ for silica gel, on which question 7 and 8 went: 7: "My self/pet/friend/child has eaten silica gel. What should I do?" 7A: "Nothing. Silica gel is not poisonous." 8: "Then why does it say do not eat on the packet?" 8A: "Because it's not food."

yeah the thing is that the concentration of wealth is a concentration of control, ownership, etc. It's not like the rich have another entire economy in their back pocket.

I'm not set on my thesis here, but, "be exhausting, never really take a position but indict others for failing to characterize their own" is a ten cent prompt to run an exhaustion bot on, and it would read like this

The Democratic population is 44% more in favor of coups than assassinations! That's crazy! We've had assassinations. We literally rewrote the Constitution to handle them better. Coups are Very Bad and Very Unpredictable.

I read it, and you didn't really argue anything. Somehow the KMT is weakened in victory in a way that the CCP wasn't. You're just not engaging your own hypothetical.
100
mudbungie.bsky.social @mudbungie.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
I'm literally responding to your hypothetical bsky.app/profile/tire... Why do you think a victorious KMT could not have consolidated control?
100
mudbungie.bsky.social @mudbungie.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
this is how we use language for everything else, though. everything is metaphorical application, especially in computing!
000
mudbungie.bsky.social @mudbungie.bsky.social · 19/09/2026
my assumption here is not a specific alt history, just, "several things break the other way, and instead of CCP winning, KMT does." I do think that Western support of that regime would materialize, but regardless, why is the KMT worse at consolidation than CCP?
100
mudbungie.bsky.social @mudbungie.bsky.social · 19/09/2026
right, but in this hypothetical, the war is over, with the opposite outcome. a non-communist, UNSC member is the legitimate government of a unified China. Does the US decline to support this government while it's consolidating power and crushing warlords? seems inconceivable.
100
mudbungie.bsky.social @mudbungie.bsky.social · 19/09/2026
I'm unclear what you're arguing. In the event of a KMT victory in the civil war, I'm saying that the government would have been able to consolidate power. US support would help a lot.

mudbungie.bsky.social @mudbungie.bsky.social · 19/09/2026
huh? Korea happens after the end of the CCW. Stalin explicitly dealt with and helped both sides at various points, and even supported a negotiated end to the war. Stalin was not eager to jump into the CCW.

000
mudbungie.bsky.social @mudbungie.bsky.social · 19/09/2026
given Taiwan, the CPC literally did not unify China, and it's reasonable to assume that a US-allied KMT would have done just as well if not better at consolidating power.

once of my favorite versions is that our contribution is science fiction. an interstellar crisis is brewing and the terran navy is just like, "it's fine, you have a roko's basilisk, we train for this" while the rest of space is just confused how we have a name for their apocalypse

tankies don't have a consistent narrative anyways. the invasion is bad, even if the revolution was a part of great power politics. "the Americans baited the Reds into invading their own city" man sucks to suck, maybe try being a better empire and they won't find fertile ground.

I'm not sure that anyone is arguing against full liability for the companies responsible on the basis of autonomy. If anything, the argument that they are making pitbulls (to keep the analogy) makes them _more_ irresponsible and liable.
