Michael Tristano Jr. (MTJ): Thank you for joining me in this queer con- versation, Juana. It’s so good to be in community with you and to talk about all of the achievements over the course of your career. What I’ve been thinking about a lot in terms of your work is how it has always been about sex, but it’s also been about queerness and sex and how those two things are related, not related, etc. I am wondering how you have seen trends in the study of queerness shift over time?

Juana María Rodríguez(JMR): I think what I’ve seen shift is what queer is about and what it can do. I think initially the idea was that queer was just a cooler version of being gay and lesbian, not the even the Q and the T, and that

Hi, all. I hope this does not come across as cranky, but I just filled out the NCA
Reviewer/Chair/Respondent Application form online and want to make an observation.
This year's form contains the message: "Please note that most units require reviewers, chairs, and respondents to be current NCA members.
We encourage you to check your membership status in the subscriptions tab of your NCA
Account to ensure eligibility." Aside from the fact that I'm almost certain I've previously reviewed for NCA in years when I've not been a member, this seems overly limiting to me. It's no skin off my back if I don't review this year--l have about 5,000 other service-related things I can do with my time instead--but I would respectfully encourage NCA leaders at all levels to think through what the intention of this policy is and whether it's truly necessary. I understand divisions want reviewers who are knowledgeable about the subject matter they're reviewing, but I question whether current membership in NCA is truly the best way to authenticate this.

The same right wing enablers of genocide are now trying to create false narratives of their sympathy for Palestinians which is a sign that everything is about to get horribly worse. It is an attempt to create an alibi for what they know is the impending final solution.

The abstract and beginning of the essay "Laboring toward a critical methodpraxis of care." The abstract reads: In this essay, we propose care as a methodpraxis that guides our labor within and beyond academic endeavors. We do so by elaborating on three areas we find fundamental to our praxis of care: failure, mess, and critical reflexivity. For each section, we illuminate the theory with examples from pedagogy, research, and community, as three facets we see as pivotal to our work as university laborers. We propose an understanding of care as an onto-epistemological project of performance that necessitates a series of individual and collective commitments that enable us to put into motion alternative modes of being and relating.
