It's the Feast of the Queenship of Mary,who said yes & became the Mother of the King. Love this poem by Nicola Slee & my new little icon from Greece, Our Lady of the 7 Wounds. Each of them is related to human griefs around parenthood/caring that many of us have known There's a lot of room in Mary ⚓

2) I have huge issues with how patriarchal views of Mary as the perfect, silent, sinless woman are used to oppress women in and out of the church but I know She's bigger than any accretion thrown at her and I love her for that too. Never forget there's a lot of room in Mary! ,⚓

Please read both posts ⚓ 1) It's the feast of the #Assumption of Mary, Mother of Jesus today and we're enjoying some time in the garden together. This battered, kitsch, statue of Mary was in a church in Middlesbrough. She's saturated in years of prayers, pleas, & confidences & I love her for that.

May I pray for you today? Leave a message here or send a private message. I have a new painting, done by a friend, of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. It's resting here til I find its place. It's reminding me today that God is big enough to hold anything we need to bring & that we are loved without limit.

This is a prayer space. It's the corner of a room with two small white cabinets. There are religious icons on the wall. There's a statue of Mary, Mother of Jesus, on one cabinet. On the other there are small religious carvings & two angel candle holders. Propped up on the floor there is a painting of the Sacred Heart of Jesus

It's the Feast of Mary Magdalene, Apostle to the Apostles. Strong, faithful & brave. Friend of Jesus. Last at the Cross, first at the empty tomb. Steadfast & strong & known by her Saviour. Personally I think it's more to do with a basic misunderstanding of what healing can encompass beyond the getting better aspect. And sometimes about who needs/wants healing. Attitudes toward disability & illness may be the area that needs healing work.

Oh my goodness this! 'There are too few stories of continuation' I'd also like to say to anyone meeting folk with illnesses & disabilities in a church or prayer situation that healing is not the same as 'getting better' Don't be the person who makes that presumption
