Did you know Montanans elect our Supreme Court Justices through nonpartisan elections? That means we choose judges based on their experience and knowledge of the law, not political party. It's a system worth protecting. And right now, extremists are trying to dismantle it.

Four years ago, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. June 24th marks that anniversary and the fight is far from over. Montana has constitutional protections for abortion care, but a fetal viability gestational limit still forces some Montanans to leave the state to access the care they need.

In 1972, 100 Montanans gathered to rewrite the state's constitution from scratch. They were teachers, lawyers, farmers, and everyday citizens. They debated, disagreed, and ultimately signed a document on March 22, 1972 that still governs Montana today.

The SAVE Act is being framed as “election security.” But let’s be clear: this bill would create new barriers to voting for millions of eligible Americans. The proposal would require documentary proof of citizenship, like a passport or birth certificate, just to register to vote.

Democracy depends on access, and the SAVE Act puts that at risk. The bill has passed the U.S. House and is now headed to the Senate. While it’s framed as an election security bill, it would actually require documentary proof of citizenship just to register to vote.
