I don’t want this point to be lost in the discourse. Going digital-only means inequity for people who cannot afford internet or constantly purchasing new games. Libraries provide opportunities for people to experience games they otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford, and that will be lost.

100% this, I'm always more happy to see a decomp or recomp than I am for announcements of crap official ports with janky emulation. Having more actual source ports would make things even better.

Cool comix, cool cyber-gal. The cover of issue 25 of Cyber Comix with a character design from Kenichi Sododa of Gall Force, Bubblegum Crisis, and Gunsmith Cats fame. Also Otaku no Video!

The cover of cyber comix with an android or cybernetically enhanced brown-haired gal with a Cyber comix tee tied off at the waist over her bronze, almost rose gold covered chrome body.

MSX making this account: I'm not going to be horny on bsky. Especially since I try to keep my neocities page PG13 and professional. It would be a bad look, right? MSX after making his account: yeah but... [stares at his kinky as fuck feed] awawa I love kink

I wish there were more search action/Metroidvania games that prioritised exploration, platforming, movement tech and sequence breaking over combat. feels like nine times out of ten they have soulsborney combat that is just really not my thing. Maybe I'm just not looking in the right places.

One of my favorite pictures is this one by Whitey Schafer from 1940. It was created to break all of the Hays Code in just one frame.

depression has been awful lately. I don't enjoy anything, nothing is satisfying. games are unfulfilling. food is so unenjoyable that I wish I could just eat nothing instead. I have nothing to do, no personal goals, and a crushing feeling that my pathetic life has already peaked. I hate it.

lode runner on apple ii has the best story ever because it's about robbing the government and giving the gold back to the people all because the government started taxing chicken mcnuggets

Paragraph from the Lode Runner Apple II manual:

You are a Galactic Commando deep in enemy territory. Power hungry leaders of the repressive Bungeling Empire have stolen a fortune in gold from the people by means of excessive fast food taxes. Your task? To infiltrate each of 150 different treasure rooms, evade the deadly Bungeling guards, and recover every chest of Bungeling booty.

i should of specified anti christianity tbh since it's very specific to Abrahamic beliefs There's other bits of symbolism tying it to this, e.g. the names of the puppets you escape from the furnace with at the start of the game having names based off of the four evangelists

tbh I wouldn't even say my media literacy is amazing but I THINK I manage okay. But I guess everyone thinks they're managing okay because they only have themselves to compare their internal thought process to, and your own thoughts are going to say your own thoughts make sense to them.

People say media literacy is dead but sometimes I wonder if it was ever really alive, or if we just figured it PROBABLY used to exist due to more subtle stories existing in the past (that people who grew up with STILL misinterpret in spite of that)

Genuinely you literally cannot have transgender character unless they look at the screen exactly and say the precise 5 words “I am a transgender woman” because otherwise media literacy is so fucking dead people will not assume otherwise

oh so it was intentional. i take back any good faith hope. WOW.

I want to briefly address the discussion as a GOG representative. The Sowilo rune is part of my cultural and historical heritage. As a Pole, I am fully aware of both its history and the sensitivities surrounding it. Its use in this promotion was intended solely as a reference to the sun, which is central to the game being promoted.

What was displayed in several devices as doppelrune is out of our control. ᛋ was displayed as ϟ on several devices (might display for you differently here as well just letting you know). We should pay more attention to checking it on a different systems and devices. I also recognize that placing two such runes next to each other could create an unfortunate association with symbols used by the Nazi regime. This was noticed before distribution, and out of respect for local sensitivities, the material was not sent to the German community.

At the same time, I do not believe that symbols with a history spanning more than a thousand years should be defined solely by their misuse in the modern history. Allowing that would mean accepting that those who corrupted these symbols now own their meaning.

As a Pole, I have every reason to treat this history with seriousness and respect. Precisely because of that, I reject any suggestion that this promotion carried an extremist message. It did not. It was a reference to the historical symbol of the sun, nothing more.

I've kinda been having a lot of emotional issues lately over just... how little I've been enjoying life, including hobbies. I may have burned myself out on video games from pushing myself to complete and review games for my website.

When I played Dr Robotnik's Ring Racers for the first time it gave me such an intense desire for more racing games like it that I've never really been able to satiate, to the extent that now I'm just playing a bunch of different racing games regardless of subgenre to see what sticks
