My fil always believed in packing mini toothpaste, toothbrush and swimsuit in carry on. Reasoning being you could have flight diverted. The hotel might have a pool. Also, swim wear can act as spare underwear. It finally happened to him. He happily swam. I now follow this advice.

I work in the romance industry & the men powers that be always want more plot. Then they showed me story with so! much! plot! I went, “Why do these characters even like each other?” I pointed out he was a total asshole and she was an ongoing “too-stupid-to-live” trope.

US blood pressure guidelines baffle me. In South Africa, the doctor is delighted that I, a 48 yr woman whose mother just died, showed an unsupported arm reading of 125/70. (Meaning, my arm wasn't resting on a table but hanging on the side.) Now in the US, that reading would be of "concern."

My mom died earlier this week. She’d been in hospice over a year ago after refusing a feeding tube. At the time , they were certain that the first time she tried to eat solids she’d die. She wanted to eat by mouth even if it meant risking death. And you know what - good for her.

To summarise a long story..my water had broken, I said I was in labour,& they preferred to show my a flat line from a fetal heart rate monitor than check the birthing canal & while they ‘effed around with that, I gave birth to a healthy, baby. It’s been over 21 years and I’m still angry

2 months ago I gave myself permission to make bad art & took part in a pottery workshop. My body is not compatible with the art form but love to take part every so many years. Picked them up today and am DELIGHTED they actually hold liquid. And the fact they are wonky as hell gives me joy.

Two hand made mugs. The clear glaze gives a cream finish. Dried fynbos was pressed in, kind of like tiny dried ferns or lavender , and these impressions were glazed black. So it looks like the mugs were bury by dried foliage. However , while I made the imprint I did NOT do the glazing. Also, due to the angle you can’t see how wobbly they are. The tops look like a drunk dressage rider trying to make a circle. As in, wonky as hell. But charming in their own unique way. Ha.

I have a flash piece coming out that touches on this. How so many women my age and older didn’t realise that it might be possible to be both. So if we already knew we liked men then we couldn’t possibly be…and any acting on those feelings would be “dishonest.” Esp if you grew up in small town USA.

Keep getting ads for the “bush buckle” - a faux-seatbelt that clicks in so you don’t have to listen to the beep-beep-beep while driving out in the wilds with no seatbelt. Meanwhile, any dog tether will do the same thing for a fraction of the price. Not that I recommend riding sans seatbelt.

In all seriousness, I don't think it is great that the orcas drove Great Whites away from their fav breeding spot. Even before the sharks were driven off, they were not known for bothering people. As for why the seals are now getting rather alarming diseases, I don't know. Ask a scientist.

To be clear, Husband having to rethink his travel route isn’t the problem. Okay, a tiny one, but in the grand scope, it’s nothing. The problem is there is an entire country struggling to get any fuel. While the people who caused the crisis complain their fuel is a little more expensive.

I’m proud of myself. During this entire fuel snafu, I have not once brought up that I TOLD HIM TO TAKE THE EXTRA FUEL BAG. Hell, I offered to duct tape it on there like a fuel bag has not be duct taped before. It would have stayed. I am can accomplish amazing things with duct tape.

Meanwhile, Mozambique has no fuel in 20 stations … and I am only referring to a section of the country. The rest of the country probably has many more empty stations. But sure, how sad the US has to pay more for a resource that others in the world are struggling to even get.
