Yesterday I attended the consecration of the Bishop of Cork, Cloyne and Ross in Christ Church Cathedral Dublin. Is Filioque now optional in the liturgy of that place ?

Recently, I presided at St. John the Evangelist, Sandymount, following in the footsteps of Fr. Fletcher Sheridan Le Fanu and Fr. Samuel Randal Sproule Colquhoun; a fine tradition.

Hmmm... The Transfiguration. Always a good time to examine our vision of Christ before Lent and ask ourselves, does it embrace humanity and divinity or are we drawn to one over the other ? Yeah, some solid Christology tomorrow rather than the usual... "Daz transfigures your whites."

Today's the feast of St John, apostle and evangelist. He holds his poisoned chalice in 15th Century glass at Colby, Norfolk, the little dragon looking rather perky under the circumstances.

Once again, the RCL lection goes to the heart of the Advent pilgrimage. Matthew 7: 21, 24-27 How are we preparing our spiritual foundations ? On the rock or the shifting sands ?

A fine RCL lesson in this season of Advent. Matthew 15: 29-37 In this season we are the crowds - exhausted and weighed down. So often our response is like that of the disciples... looking at the blunt reality rather than the miracle of Christ's abundance - specifically in the Eucharist.
