I'll be sharing my work on how I considered a restorative methodology to study educators of color navigating relational trust in restorative justice practices on this panel with some excellent folks at #AERA2025!
A colorful poster sharing the details of the Critical Intersections of K-12 Education and Racial Diversity speaker session for AERA2025. It'll be Saturday, April 26 at 3.20pm.

Every year I reread Dr. King's speech "Beyond Vietnam" and recommit myself to the struggle for liberation from racism, poverty, imperialism, war, and suffering of all kinds. I encourage you to do the same today.
"So they go, primarily women and children and the aged. They watch as we poison their water, as we kill a million
acres of their crops. They must weep as the bulldozers roar through their areas preparing to destroy the precious
trees. They wander into the hospitals with at least twenty casualties from American firepower for one
Vietcong-inflicted injury. So far we may have killed a million of them, mostly children. They wander into the towns
and see thousands of the children, homeless, without clothes, running in packs on the streets like animals. They see
the children degraded by our soldiers as they beg for food. They see the children selling their sisters to our soldiers,
soliciting for their mothers.
" The speech is "Beyond Vietnam," Dr. King's speech delivered on April 4, 1967.

Really impressed by Kenji Yoshino's work on allyship at the second NAIS general session. This empathy triangle is very helpful!
The Empathy Triangle as developed by the Meltzer Center. It shows three broad triangles (Affected Person in a purple triangle, Ally in a brown triangle, and Source in a blue triangle) with prompt questions for each.

It's very hard to explain how my job works. Anyway, here is a slide I made for community meeting tomorrow. Would love to see your answers (and if you really want the answers, check out the alt text.)
A slide with a light pink background and text that says "Guess which top songs of 2024 these images are referring to?" There is a picture of a cup of coffee, an apartment layout, a pink horse from My Little Pony, a photo of Drake's mansion, and a baby surrounded by money.

The answers are Espresso by Sabrina Carpenter, APT by Rose and Bruno Mars, Pink Pony Club by Chappell Roan, Not Like Us by Kendrick Lamar, and Million Dollar Baby by Tommy Richman.

Did an early friendsgiving, and I am pleased to say most of the things I made turned out well, with the exception of a plant-based mashed potato that reheated awkwardly. Ordered a few things and made green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole, Brussels sprouts!
Friendsgiving dinner including turkey two ways, roasted Brussels sprouts with pomegranate seeds, green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole with mini marshmallows and a pecan walnut crumble, cornbread and wild rice stuffing, and a traditional sage stuffing.
