🎶You did it! You did it! You said that you would do it, And indeed you did. I thought that you would rue it; I doubted you'd do it. But now I must admit it That succeed you did.🎶 Well, succeeded in submitting it, anyway. Now for the months’ long wait for the result!

Dear god this is pathetic. How do these so-called journalists live with themselves. Not objecting to the first paragraph, but the second one is just an embarrassment. This is how this man’s bullshit has been normalised. FFS!

Message just sent to my siblings…
I’ve just sent my final finished draft to my supervisors. 244 pages, somewhere around 100,000 words (Microsoft Word can’t make its mind up) and ten years of my life. It’s with my supervisors for a final check before submission. And now I COLLAPSE.

He also said this... about taking responsibility for the deaths /in the streets/ of seven aid workers.
"What does it mean, justice? Lynch people in the street? No, justice is – that’s why you have a court, the court measures what happened and comes to a decision."

I think I’ve hit my limit. I’m so tired of having Trump in my head. Yesterday, in between meeting work deadlines, I spent the day weeping for James Valentine and wondering why we only seem to lose the good ones. In other news, my beautiful dad would have been 98 today.
An older man stands against a wire fence, next to a rocky outcrop. He holds a walking stick in one hand, and a flat cap in the other. Behind him, the bush is obscured by thick fog. He is smiling at the camera and has a wave of silver hair across his head.

I’m really missing my dad right now. Although I am so grateful he’s not around to see this hellhole we’ve made of the world.

With the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra. I kind of knew Tim when he was in a band with friends of mine in the 80s. Real thrill to see The Whitlams after all these years.

Wrangler of two entirely uncooperative cats. Australian. Children’s and youth literature specialist. Big reader, also watch too much TV. Here are the cats (Kip and Milly):
A photo of two cats on a woman’s lap and feet. The woman is covered by a heated blanket: she lives in Tasmania and it’s winter. The cat closest to the camera is a chonky grey and white boy. The cat at the rear is a tabby with a calico-ginger wash. Both are looking at the camera/woman taking the photo.

Listening to Beds are Burning on the #HottestAustralian100 and remembering my uni crush telling me Peter Garrett better not stand for Parliament (for the No Nukes party) because no-one under 30 would vote for him and break up the Oils. Ah the 80s.

This is not going to end well.
An awkward shot of two cats vying for space on my body. I’m in an armchair in my reading room. One (small gingery tabby) is on my knees, the other (grey tuxie) on my chest. They don’t get on.

I’m trying to avoid Meta this week so you will all have to out up with photos of things I bought for the house lately. Number 1: this concrete darling who is probably meant to be an Aristo-cat but who I prefer to think is Mewsette from Gay Purr-ee.
A somewhat weathered concrete cat garden statue. She looks like a cartoon character, and is striking a coquettish pose. She is painted white with faded emerald green eyes and sits on a mint green base.

Four years today since we lost our lovely mum, Edith. Here are some photos of us together over the years, and the last photo I took of her. Loved and terribly missed.
Photo of a dark haired woman holding a baby girl who is about 12 months old. Woman is smiling at the baby; the baby is looking straight at the camera (or her dad, who is behind the camera).Black and white photo of a woman holding a young child in her arms, and making a face at the child as if they are sharing a joke. They are both in winter clothes.A photo of an older woman and her daughter, who is in her mid-30s. They are both dressed nicely for a special occasion.A photo of an elderly woman, smartly dressed in a pink and blue floral outfit. There is a large cup of coffee in front if her. Quote from Octavia Butler's Earthseed: The Books of the Living, which reads "Choose your leaders with wisdom and forethought.
To be led by a coward is to be controlled by all that the coward fears.
To be led by a fool is to be led by the opportunists who control the fool.
To be led by a thief is to offer up your most precious treasures to be stolen.
To be led by a liar is to ask to be told lies.
To be led by a tyrant is to sell yourself and those you love into slavery."
