Weird. Mine is cheaper.

Oh boy, desmog.ca, just another insanely biased outlet with a clear purpose to attack anything that goes against its climate agenda. Some of you need to learn how to validate sources. These "sources" are insanely biased and have a narrative to sell you, if anything.

Yes, you guys are showing "sources" like blog posts and Rachel Gilmore. When did the left get this stupid?

msmedea.bsky.social @msmedea.bsky.social · 03/09/2026
LOL. Rachel Gilmore? Enough said. She's hardly a credible person; she's more of an NDP propagandist than a journalist. Come on now. Thanks for the laughs, bud.

I am sure that happens.

Nope, just not pretending this is a hand-out to oil and gas companies political purposes.

msmedea.bsky.social @msmedea.bsky.social · 03/09/2026
Is it? Sounds like it's saving Canadians some money on gas. But, yeah, leave it to Avi Lewis to focus on anything other than that to push a really weak narrative on oil and gas and corporate handouts, lol.

I looked, and it's basically a blog post.

I am sure that source is about as biased as Avi Lewis.

Or, you know, the people save money from them. More than type of person can benefit.

How is this a give away to oil and gas companies? Because will people might spend more? You're really stretching the definition of a handout here. This will help everyday people, but I am not surprised you've twisted this policy into a "handout" for O&G and corporations. NDP has terrible messaging

Woah. Now that's a pretty big change.

Coming out of a leadership election, I am not surprised the BCCON raised a bit more money.

Do you think you're arguing against me or with me? I can't tell. Proportional system wouldn't create majority governments with the winning party receiving under a third of the vote.
011
msmedea.bsky.social @msmedea.bsky.social · 05/08/2026
That province desperately needs a new proportional electoral system. 31% majority government feels wrong. Not even a third of the population gets itself a majority.

His immigration is so out of touch with Canadian public opinion and the state of our housing and healthcare capacities. His knowledge of Canadian federalism is abjectly lacking. He thinks he can POGG national rent controls. He's a pie-in-the-sky idealist without a shred of pragmatism.

Because he's a hack. He spends most of his time telling Canadians they are wrong to support the military or pipeline. His staple cost-of-living is ripped off from Mamdani without any thought as to whether it is portable to federal politics; his Americanized Green new deal is another rip off.

33% of Conservatives trust Trump to stick to a deal. Sounds like wishful thinking, pure ignorance, or both.
020
msmedea.bsky.social @msmedea.bsky.social · 25/07/2026
All that time copying Trump and his culture war finally caught up to the CPC when people started paying attention. The CPC utterly failed to convince Canadians they'd take the American threat seriously. The CPC seriously underestimated how many people were voting to get rid of Trudeau.

Do you have any numbers on these million jobs? Where are they are going? How are they being created? I've looked and I can never find anything concrete or even anything that looks like it could create anywhere near that many jobs.

Because a lot of them support the federal party and feel Lowan is closer to Lewis than Eby. The federal party is kind of a drag on the BC NDP. They want him to be more progressive than the rest of the province is willing to go.

Probably because almost all of them are going up in Alberta, BC, and Saskatchewan.

They hate facts and science. They've always downplayed, and have often outright denied, the existence of climate change. I'd be more surprised if polling found that they've all of a sudden embraced science and acknowledged facts for a change.

That's pretty cute coming from the guy running to "everyone who criticizes me is racist." As if the NDP needed more ideological inflexibility, lol. Anyway, have fun running the NDP out of existence.

Avi Lewis is radioactive in this province. It's political survival. He's an out-of-touch ideologue. No need to attach themselves to someone so rigid and inflexible.

Good on them. They'd be foolish to get on board the sinking ship that is the federal NDP.

You set off a riot amongst Lewis supporters with this one. Apparently, using words like radical and activist, which they use to describe him, is insulting and leading. Pretty amusing.

Quantitative research isn't well suited for measuring how people define problems. Open answers are problematic to measure in polls, and pollsters risk creating opinion by defining the problem and answers for respondents (i.e., the pollster asks the question and provides a spectrum of answers).

We also haven't failed a few constitutional reform packages that had the intention of procuring Quebec's signature on the patriated constitution, which the ROC signed without them in 1982.

If the plan is just to axe taxes and regulations, you don't need a leader who has so much baggage. However, I think the party likes that his rhetoric and style successfully obfuscates the fact he's selling market solutions and deregulation (i.e., trickle down economics) to frustrated younger voters

Anyone who thinks you can negotiate with a capricious dementia patient hasn't spent enough time around a senior home. They either forget what they've become obstinate about and move on or remain fixated on whatever it is they think they're right about. Good luck, Carney.

Why do pollsters love polling Ontario right now? It's in the first year of a majority where one of the main opposition parties is leaderless. Gotta keep busy, I guess.

msmedea.bsky.social @msmedea.bsky.social · 22/09/2025
Not really sure why Abacus is polling Nova Scotia and Ontario so much when they're in the first year or so of their majorities. Like, who is even thinking about an election right now in those provinces? Not even the PCs in either province would go early at this point.

If you look at Twitter, there's almost no difference between a lot of Canadian and American conservatives. They're afraid of the same shit, hate the same people, and are devoutly partisan. Not surprising they have no issue with the destruction of democracy and the rise of authoritarianism.

Except Abacus is notorious for overestimating Poilievre and the Conservatives in between elections. If Poilievre is relying on data from Abacus, no wonder he's doing so poorly.
