Thanks, Scott. You might be interested in our webinar series on five English mystics next Spring. Julian was included in a similar series we did last Spring so we didn't include her in this one buy she'll be mentioned in a few.

Happy Feast Day of St Clare of Assisi (d. 1253). Although often remembered by the title she gave herself "la pianticella" ("the little plant") of St Francis of Assisi, Clare is far more than just Francis's understudy. /1

Returning to Evelyn Underhill and Lucy Menzies ahead of a talk next week. One delightful thing is that they both dedicated books to each other -- Menzies in her 1928 "Mirrors of the Holy" and Underhill in her 1932 "The Golden Sequence."

created a new and much more accurate picture of Angela and her theology, and my favourite passage from Menzies (the final image here) celebrates what these new editions contribute, with Menzies' book published in 1928.

Menzies was a major (but unsung) contributor to the revival of interest in mysticism on both a popular and academic level in the early 20th century. She was a friend and collaborator of Evelyn Underhill who is much more well known, and to whom this book is dedicated. /2
