Stunning sunset across Loch Sunart in Glenborodale on the Ardnamurchan peninsula - West coast of Scotland. There are dolphins and seals in the water, a couple of white tail eagles in the sky and numerous Stags bellowing across the hills. Heaven!

My last comment. It’s not intended to clear the debt. It’s to provide a free at the point of delivery social care by 2039-40. It’ll save 15B towards what will be an 18.5b bill. It’ll benefit the very pensioners who won’t get quite as much in their pension but maybe can avoid going into care home.

I get the state pension. Getting rid of the triple lock will make a very moderate difference to my income. I will continue to receive more year on year and in line with inflation. I’m very happy with that if the 15B it’ll save overall- goes towards social care

I worked in MoJ in 2011-2022 &used to walk past the room where prison capacity numbers were on a board.. Year on year prison numbers grew & there were suicides on a regular basis The Tories pretending the prison capacity issues are a Labour problem is absolute garbage. & Sunak released 10,000 early

Have the Tories forgotten that Rishi Sunak gave early release to 10,000 prisoners between October 23 and June 24. And they didn’t have the same monitoring policies in place. I know it’s not something that any Gov would want to do- but don’t let’s pretend this is something new.

We are the fastest growing economy in the G7. Source ONS. We have massive debt that was left by the Tories. The state pension is not great- but it will rise year on year in line with inflation or 2.5% It’s not great applying for credits- but they are there to take for those most in need

And the evidence is there. Triple lock is unsustainable and unaffordable. Why should pensioners get increases on their income that are at higher rates than those in work. Young ppl can’t afford rents or mortgages and yet pensioners get increases year on year.

Oh, & it’s estimated that moving to a double lock would save the Gov 15B per year by 2039 & that a free @ the point of use social care will cost 18.5B per year. So a relatively small shortfall. Gov is also likely to have additional headroom from falls in migration.
