Yeah, I believe the show took a less serious tone and leaned far more into the comedy in season 3. It's why I recommend the comics since that's handled by the creator, and they pick up from season 2. Plus, the comics have less corporate meddling, so we're allowed to have gay gargoyles be canon

Season 3 isn't canon as for that season, Disney kicked out the writers to replace them with new ones, and the creator was only able to work on one episode partially. The tone is off, characters get flanderized, and from what I've heard, most of the episodes are bad except for two.
