P2 have learned about paper & plastic recycling. We watched Maddie Moat as she visited a recycling plant & showed us what happens. We think it's so clever that used printed on paper can be made into new clean paper 🗞️🚛♻️🗒️ P2 then made posters to encourage our school to recycle more ♻️ #DunipaceScience

Our P2 ladybirds have arrived! We didn't recognise them as they're still tiny black larvae. P2 have observed throughout the week. Luckily their home has a microscope top to look through as they're so small🐞 We learned about the ladybird lifecycle & created our own ladybirds too #DunipaceScience

Our caterpillars were all in their chrysalis stage last week. We carefully moved them into their pop up net. P2 were interested to see what was left in the cup once they'd moved out! We filled in the our caterpillar diary too. We can't wait to see them emerge as butterflies 🐛🦋 #DunipaceScience

We learned more about different food groups using the Eatwell Plate. We know food gives us energy & helps our body to grow & be strong. We played games to sort foods into the 5 main food groups. Then we planned our own healthy lunchboxes 🍓🍌🫐🍉🥕🍇🍞🧀🍚🥙 #DunipaceHWB #DunipaceHealthWeek

P2 expanded their recycling in class. We now have paper, plastic & soft plastic recycling 😀 This means we can reduce waste that goes in the bin & reuse or recycle it ♻️ We collected lots this week, ready for Mrs S to recycle at home/the supermarket. Some P2s used some recycling to make crafts📦📄🖌️🎨

We celebrated World Bee Day on Wednesday 🐝 We found out more about why bees matter and what we can do to help. We learned about the lifecycle of a bee & some amazing facts about bees. Then we planted some pollinator wildflower seeds & made some bee crafts 🌸🌼🪻🐝 #DunipaceScience #WorldBeeDay

We created a wormery in our class 🪱 We added layers of compost & coloured sand to the container. The sand helps us to observe the worms burrowing & mixing the layers. We moistened the soil & added leaves & banana peel for them to enjoy. We make sure the cover is on to keep it dark🪱🌿 #DunipaceScience
