I agree there, Kotch. It's been a crazy few weeks and I think everyone is busy getting ready for the end of the school year! #sunchat

Oh well, Paz. Looks like you can get Will to the playground early this morning before those winds kick in! We can put #sunchat on the back burner for a few weeks and try to revive again in the future.

The power plant down the road is still smoldering... Was definitely a scare I would like to not remember. It is ironic bc before we went on break I was teaching about fire breaks and the adverse effects wildfires have on biomes... Guess this is where I will pick up my conversation! #sunchat

Good morning #sunchat! Getting ready to return to the classroom for the last nine weeks of school here in Jersey! We just got over a scary wildfire that is still burning within our county. How is everyone this morning?

That's awesome!! Hoping with warmer weather on the way you can get out and take a walk to the bay 💕💕 #sunchat

We are the only couple on the dance floor here Kotch 🤣🤣 but that's okay!! I know a lot of people are on spring break but unfortunately we have another 4 days to go 😭😭. Let's put a pin in here and return after Easter? #sunchat

How is the knee feeling, Kotch? You get to upgrade your "ride" this week! I definitely probably should have told you to buy a grabber off of Amazon in case anything falls to the floor lol #sunchat

Morning #sunchat crew! Melissa here from the Jersey shore. Just got into soccer practice with my little guy. So now I have time to really deep dive into this conversation!

Mrs. Paz @mrspazltms.bsky.social · 06/04/2025

Oh no!! Time for me to collect my little soccer from practice and head on home. I will catch all of you next week! #sunchat

I think it's the class sizes that are making me hesitant 🤣 #sunchat

Mrs. Paz @mrspazltms.bsky.social · 06/04/2025

I would love this incredibly much. Many Ss I know in 6th aren't mature enough just yet to really drive their own education and understanding but my 8th would mostly thrive bc they take my class as an honors course that they "hopefully" enjoy 😊 #sunchat

It's great making this connections and seeing the eye opening moment that the concepts we all teach actually have value! We are about to talk about rockets in STEM which goes with their quadratics unit in Algebra 👍🏻 #sunchat

I do this in science with taking textbook materials and making it more manageable for my ELL and Wilson readers... I level the playing field but they need to reach the bar! #sunchat

020

Mrs. Paz @mrspazltms.bsky.social · 06/04/2025

I love this, when we were in "groups" I was able to do this but now I don't share the same students as many of my colleagues or they are on different topics due to pacing and student needs. #sunchat

Mrs. Paz @mrspazltms.bsky.social · 06/04/2025

Some Ss don't even care about "staying back" now and it's crazy to me... Some Ps don't give the support, or come in saying they support us in meeting but it's never followed through with. I get we are busy, but.. #sunchat

Mrs. Paz @mrspazltms.bsky.social · 06/04/2025

Yes, every single day. We run on a "Cardinal" and "Navy" day rotation to ensure I have each class for an even amount of time throughout the year. #sunchat

Mrs. Paz @mrspazltms.bsky.social · 06/04/2025

This is what I love to do with my science curriculum and try to adapt it to ELA and Math content areas to assist in connecting concepts across the board. #sunchat

I have 6 sections (classes) I have three per day that are 82 minute blocks. #sunchat

"Grade levels" always never say right with me even as a kid. I think we can take those barriers away and be able to really deep dive into student achievement... #sunchat

Mrs. Paz @mrspazltms.bsky.social · 06/04/2025

We used to have "MAC" programs in our district that looped together 3rd and 4th grade classes. I assume they are the modern-day icr classrooms and they did really well! #suncht

Oooo I like this a lot. I got to figure out a better way next year to incorporate partner work but also maintaining academic integrity. I was a big watcher this year to see what works and what does not. #sunchat

030

Mrs. Paz @mrspazltms.bsky.social · 06/04/2025

I've been trying a lot of group work with my 8th graders but I assume I haven't gotten a grasp of it yet because many times I tell him to choose one person or if they want to be a "single Pringle" they can as well.. problem is those two people usually move closer to other groups.. #sunchat

I feel the same way, Alison. New Jersey hasn't been much better over here either. With the weather it gets warm and then it's cold again. #sunchat

How are you feeling @susankotch.bsky.social ? They forced both my parents to get up and start walking within a few hours. My dad's was done over a decade ago and his recovery was way different than my mom's. #sunchat

☀️ Good morning #sunchat! My name is Melissa and I am a middle school science teacher in New Jersey. Definitely struggling to make it to spring break up here as we have another almost 2 weeks to go... How is everybody doing this morning?

See you shortly on #sunchat! We'll talk about the best way to group students in class. Do we mix up the levels? Do we keep like-levels together? What is today's thinking? See you at 9am eastern! We can't wait to hear your opinions!

If we had leveled classes this would make so much more sense... I struggle daily with my classes because I have students who are "advanced" and others who can barely read and write.. we have to fix this! #sunchat

Mrs. Paz @mrspazltms.bsky.social · 30/03/2025

Hahahaha! Completely fair! I listened to a gentleman at our in-service a few months ago and then listened to him again during an in-service and was like is this deja vu? #sunchat

Too much effort and no intention to "change what isn't broken" model. What a shame! #sunchat

010

Mrs. Paz @mrspazltms.bsky.social · 30/03/2025

I like this too, instead of 83 minute blocks why not split them and allow students "who get it" to explore the options and give small group interventions to those who need it. #sunchat

Mrs. Paz @mrspazltms.bsky.social · 30/03/2025

I have said this many times with speakers... Many are so out of touch with education and when they come in they are a walking red flag and I immediately lose interest.. the fake optimism and "find your why" makes me sigh heavily. #sunchat

Mrs. Paz @mrspazltms.bsky.social · 30/03/2025

I have had parents lose it on me over their kids being "burnt". I have to have conversations in the beginning of the year explaining that we go over safety protocols and what to do in situations. Obviously I'm watching but I cannot watch 31 students at the same time. #sunchat

020

Mrs. Paz @mrspazltms.bsky.social · 30/03/2025

Better a small burn than missing a distal phalangy 🤣🤣! #sunchat

Mrs. Paz @mrspazltms.bsky.social · 30/03/2025

You definitely wouldn't hear me complaining! I would love smaller classes in electives so they are engaged in things they like. They would take it more seriously (mostly). #sunchat

@carlameyrink.bsky.social I have Ss and families sign wavers 🤣 yet they STILL burn themselves with hot glue guns. My students watch me as I use power tools with little to no effort and wonder why I can't have them use it 🤣🤣 "My dude, didn't you just burn yourself with my hot glue gun?" #sunchat

I know our high school has a wood shop but class sizes are astronomical in size and cannot be individually helped and assessed which scares me bc of safety concerns. Yikes!! #sunchat
