I'm not a big work from home person (I'm on the office most days), but I do appreciate the flexibility to work from home when I have no meetings, have stuff to get drafted, and want to wear cozy clothes because it is dreary outside.

I overslept today, which sucks, but at least I am working from home and I didn't miss any meetings. Also, I've been feeling out of sorts lately, so I took some time to actually clean up my email and my running to do list. Now I actually feel like I have a little more control over things.

Of the summer holidays this year, I did not work Memorial Day and I didn't work all weekend for Labor Day (I am working some today). I did, however, work 4th of July (all weekend) and Juneteenth. I hope to work fewer holidays next summer...

Yesterday my ADHD was ADHDing. I realized late afternoon I forgot to take my meds (surprisingly for the first time since being diagnosed and prescribed medication a couple months ago). Today I remembered to take my meds AND I ate breakfast...it is shaping up to be a good day...(famous last words?)

This shouldn't be a hot take, but no state or territory of the United States should have to ration water. Every state and territory of the United States should have easy access to safe clean drinking water. We have so much money in this country that this should not be an issue.

I love Minneapolis and I argue that the Twin Cities constitutes a decent size metro. HOWEVER, after just spending a couple days downtown Chicago, Minneapolis seems extremely quant and quiet. Not a bad thing, just different.

I've been to the Chicago area many times in my life (with some brief ventures downtown a couple of times), but I'm going to be downtown Chicago for a conference for part of this week and I'm so freaking excited (especially because I'll be extending the trip by like 24 hours to play tourist)!

I just told our law clerk, "yeah the great part of this job is the flexibility." She clapped back, "yeah the flexibility to work 12 hours!" I laughed and said, "I don't do that!" She laughed and said, "I watched you do it!!" I do do that sometimes...I'm trying to get better.

I've billed full days everyday since last Monday. Yes, I billed a full day on July 4th. I'm so close to finally being caught up. My goal is to spend maximum 2 hours finishing things and then I'm going to spend the afternoon reading a fiction book.

Sometimes past me is rude and leaves a pile of clothes on the bed for me to deal with which prompts me to find my other clean clothes for fold and put away. It's rude because I just want to crawl in my bed with my book but instead I'm putting away clothes.

In talking to a fellow associate on Fri. about how much work we both have he said "Yeah, I'll work a full day this weekend and obviously Mon." I said, "Mon. is memorial day. It's a holiday." His response? "So? We're lawyers." It annoyed me. Lawyers should be able to take holiday off guilt-free.

I had a yucky conversation yesterday with a partner about my writing. In an attempt to figure out if it is a fundamental or style issue, I had a great conversation with a different partner. He pointed out things that I could improve, but assured me that I'm not a bad writer. #helpfulmentoring

Is this a hot take? idk. I greatly dislike it when attorneys put citations as footnotes in a brief! It doesn't make it cleaner and just makes me mad that I have to break my reading flow to go look for the case citation.
