I am the fire and the flame! Flambae turnaround from later on in the concept phase, compared to the initial sketches and pitch version. Even in this final concept, he doesn't have his 5 o clock shadow #dispatch #conceptart #characterdesign

PSA: reki does actually say his childhood friend's name out loud in the OVA, it just got missed in the official subtitles! his name is yoh (耀)! no family name, but the kanji means sparkle/shine ✨ #SK8THEINFINITY #sk8spoilers

A screenshot of the SK8 the Infinity OVA. 8 year old Reki is carrying his friend on his back.

"I'm going all out next time, so get ready, Yoh!"

probably already having a beef to decide who could swing higher 😝🐯🌸✨ (July 2021) #matchablossom #SK8THEINFINITY #sk_8 #エスケーエイト

Kaoru and Kojiro from the anime sk8 the infinity. In this illustration they're in elementary school. Both swinging on the seesaw, Kojiro is looking at Kaoru with his tongue sticking out as he's slightly higher on the seesaw than Kaoru. He's wearing a bright green t-shirt with a sun on it and yellow shorts. He has band aids on his right knee and he's wearing orange flip flops. He has a bracelet on his left ankle.
Kaoru is closer to the camera but his face is turned towards Kojiro so we cannot see his expression. He is wearing a dark blue shirt with constellations on it, dark blue shorts and dark blue flip flops. He has band aids on his right knee and a bracelet on his right ankle.
They both have other band aids on their elbows. On the background, hedges and a grey building that is their elementary school. The sky is bright blue with fluffy clouds. The image looks like an old photograph with burn/light stains.

canon childhood friends 🥺🌸🐯✨ (July 2021) #matchablossom #SK8THEINFINITY #sk_8 #エスケーエイト

Kaoru and Kojiro from the anime sk8 the infinity when they were children. They are both giving their back to the viewer as they are looking out of the window of a traditional Japanese house overlooking the sea. Baby Kaoru has short hair, a striped white and purple shirta and purple trousers with a sakura flower in one of the pant's back pockets. Kojiro has curly hair, a yellow t-shirt with a tiny tiger face on the upper back and a pair of dark trousers. Kaoru is blowing soap bubbles and we can see he's wearing glasses, while Kojiro has an hand up as if it's trying to catch the bubbles. The image is intentionally looking as an old picture with a bit of burned film on the right hand side.

They're married your Honor! (and they're both idiots 🤣) 🍵🌸💍✨ #matchablossom #SK8THEINFINITY #sk_8 #エスケーエイト (July 2021 and possibly the most appreciated art I made of them ever on the bird app!)

one page comic of Kojiro Nanjo and Kaoru Sakurayashiki from sk8 the infinity anime. First panel is a close up of a laptop screen where we can see Kaoru in his home video calling Kojiro. Caption "You're an idiot"
Second panel is the other end of the call, we see a bit of Kaoru's head and his Carla laptop. Kojiro replies from the screen "I'm your idiot"
Last panel, same set up of the second panel, now Kojiro is super close to the camera showing off a wedding ring. Caption "FOREVEEEER!"
The comic is based on a scene from the big bang theory tv serie.

Throwing out there a little self indulgent hc of mine: where Joe's nickname came from! I like to think that when he was in Italy 🇮🇹 his name was too hard to pronounce/remember, so the people he met simplified it and he's been JOE ever since 🐯 (July 2021) #matchablossom #SK8THEINFINITY #sk_8 #エスケーエイト

One page comic, anime sk8 the infinity, characters Nanjo Kojiro and Kaoru Sakurayashiki in their high school years.
First panel is a view of Piazza dei Signori in Treviso, Italy. The Council building and a restaurant in the plaza.
Second panel is a close up of Kojiro in his chef attire, sparkling and smiling as he says in Italian "Piacere! Sono Nanjo Kojiro, il nuovo aiuto cuoco!" which translates "Hello! I'm Nanjo Kojiro, the new assistant chef!"
In the third panel we can se the main chef vigorously patting Kojiro on his shoulder as he thinks "NanJO, KoJirO..." and then exclaims in Italian "JOE! Benvenuto!" (Joe, welcome!) as Kojiro thinks "Joe?" the chef goes on in Italian "Ragazzi! JOE è il nuovo aiuto cuoco!" (Guys! JOE is the new assistant chef!" with baloons from the other staff members greetings "Ciao Joe!"
Last panel is set in Okinawa, as we see Kaoru laying on the tatami floor, looking into macbook laptop, video callking Kojiro who is explaining "...and so yeah, I'm Joe now!" "I quite like it, sounds cool..."
Kaoru replies "I see...Joe." while thinking "sounds cool indeed, but there's no way I'll tell him. He instead replies "...sounds dumb to me!" and Kojiro shouts from the laptop "HEY! YOU ARE THE DUMB ONE, FOUR EYES!"
