Huge thanks to @walkerbooksuk.bsky.social for sending an early copy of Small Wonder by @mossmontmomery.bsky.social I did a squeal and was told by Mr Cleveland-to-be very firmly that no matter how good it is, "We will not be getting a horse after you've read it." Rocco agreed. #UKKidLit #Skybrarians

It's the most important time of the day - means ALL children can access a text and go on a shared journey. Stop at a point when they don't want you to - that groan of "you can't stop now" is priceless #PrimaryRocks

Felix And The Future Agency by Rachel Morrisroe is a fantastic magical fantasy featuring tea, and set on a disused line of the London Underground. Storyland by Amy Jeffs is a brilliant collection of British myths - just make sure you get the children's edition. #PrimaryRocks

Class stories tend to be newer releases - children pick from a preselected list to ensure quality. Literary classics tend to be covered in reading/writing lessons, but inclusive, contemporary picture books are brilliant here too, and for PSHE #PrimaryRocks

Yes it can do, or it can change if a book comes out that is better than the current offer. I don't think spines should be set in stone as different cohorts will benefit from different stories. As a one form entry, changes are easily managed. #PrimaryRocks

Class teachers picked, and then we cross referenced to check for author duplication, similar books in different years etc. We're refreshing in September to include curriculum non-fiction texts, as they are such a great route into reading for some children. #PrimaryRocks

It should cover different genres, cultures, and identities, with rich texts (prose, picture books, poetry) so children experience as wide a diet of reading as possible to help them develop their own reader identies #PrimaryRocks
