This is an early Christian cross at Maughold, Island of Man, a so-called Celtic Cross (although that’s historically not accurate). I always wondered how to turn that into knitting 🧐🤓 #knitting #knitters #knit #craftsky #knitsky #knittersofbluesky #madebyme #justknitting #celticcross #mrsbuttons 🧶

The cross is missing about a quarter of its right-hand side. The top consists of a circle within which there is a cross shape, the bottom of which extends down more than the circle’s height. The cross itself is made of a Celtic knotted pattern. At the side of the cross stem, however, are depicted figures from Viking mythology. These early Christians obviously preferred to hedge their bets.

The cross is placed under a lean-to shelter with wooden pillars which is open to the elements at the left. In the background many more such crosses are visible, lined up in two rows on the right against the wall of the shelter.

Pattern matching is so very hard, but also so rewarding. I’ve never dared something as complex as that 🫡 For the front two panels, they perhaps could have splayed out towards the top and then the pattern would have matched throughout (but that’s just my pesky perfectionist nagging 😆). Well done! 👏

In that case, you don’t owe them anything at all. Give yourself permission to set healthy boundaries. You can give them a simple “Sorry, no!” or you could do what you would do with an abusive stranger: block them to protect yourself. Say “Yes” to yourself and “No” to any abusive relationship. 🤗

I would be extremely cautious as to their motives. Without clear explanation of why they blocked you and a proper apology as well as explanation what they want from you, I would stay clear. As said above: you don’t owe them anything. In my experience, emotional blackmail often follows.

Neighbours of my friend have done this many years ago and it seems to work really well. I think the trick is to treat and waterproof the woodwork properly otherwise it swells up in the rain and the joins come apart.
