sometimes a computer problem is so bad you need to do microsoldering on an m.2 connector to fix it meow.mrrp.place/nuc_pcie

m.2 to pcie adapter board on a soldering workbench. the board consists of an m.2 ssd shaped PCB with a long ribbon cable coming out of it, which ends at another PCB with a pcie connector. the m.2 end is being held in a stickvise and has kapton tape and a wire on it. surrounding the part are a pair of tweezers and flush cutters, a big syringe of flux, and a fume extractor

the finished bodge. there's a very thin bit of wire soldered to the end of a single pin on the m.2 board edge connector. the wire is held down with kapton tape and goes through a mounting hole in the middle of the board

this model alarm clock is so pretty ,,,, kinda reminds me of old terminals? extremely tempted by the ebay listings for them but i really do not need another project rn,

my awesome setup

i'm on a fabric mat on the concrete floor of the basement. there's a panasonic 15" production video monitor thing with a bunch of buttons on it displaying the proxmox ve installer and in front of it there's an hhkb lite 2. lots of cables scattered about

intel nuc mini PC sitting in a pile of trash and recycling (mostly ikea manuals and a piece of cardboard that says fragile). there's one of those awful flat HDMI cables going out the back as well as power, USB, and ethernet. the latter is going in a different direction than the rest
