These 2 are not the same. Putin bargains with and enlists convicts who want out of jail as soldiers. Trump is on record that soldiers are suckers and mocking the sacrifice of those buried at war cemeteries. Trump put soldiers in uniform on their knees before Xi and Putin to spread a red carpet.

If they can't get the evidence to prove the treason charge, yes, there's other lesser charges that could be brought along the conspiracy lines. But I don't have doubt that Treason applies for both of them and the finger pointing is on advice of their counsel on how to escape the gallows for treason

It matters for treason conviction purposes. There definitely should be a treason charge waiting for whoever decided and implemented the system change. Trump and Musk's personal opinions aside, Russia is defined enemy of the United States given aide and comfort. Constitution calls that treason.

Speaking of the Constitution, there's specific prohibition against arresting Representatives while Congress is session to prevent shenanigans altering votes. No similar prohibition against arresting POTUS. Afterall, it was never intended that a President's detention would affect govt functioning.

The big defense contractors continue getting a lot of funding to actually make stuff, better versions of stuff they've made. Much of the huge increase in pentagon budget is going to start-ups owned by connected private equity investors such as Trump's kids.
