𝖒𝖆𝖋 @mrogalski.eu · 18/07/2025So here is the new mouse trace chunking algorithm. Notice that mouse traces are now split into meaningful windows now and zooming no longer causes chaos. Also new bugs. Powered by segment trees. #gamedev #wip #ui #design 092
𝖒𝖆𝖋 @mrogalski.eu · 16/07/2025Mouse traces now have little thumbnails on the timeline. Zooming is still a little chaotic but not for long... #wip #gamedev #ui #design 0162

𝖒𝖆𝖋 @mrogalski.eu · 27/06/2025Here is a fun trick: signal handlers can perform surgery on the stack & registers for the interrupted thread. It can be used to inject fake function calls or steer the execution arbitrarily. It's almost like a built-in programmatic debugger that can be triggered with a "signal()" call. 010
𝖒𝖆𝖋 @mrogalski.eu · 09/05/2025Skyrim Alchemy macro is ready! JSON can be downloaded from the #machines-exchange channel in Automat's Discord (discord.com/invite/MRfuB...). 041
𝖒𝖆𝖋 @mrogalski.eu · 07/05/2025Automat can now farm alchemy ingredients in Skyrim! It scans the shopkeeper's inventory, buying every "Giant's Toe" & "Creep Cluster". When done, performs inventory reset glitch & starts over. Another step towards fully automated alchemy grinding. #TheElderScrolls #skyrim 121
𝖒𝖆𝖋 @mrogalski.eu · 19/04/2025Also for squiggly connections like this one. If I know the turn radius of the cable and horizontal displacement that I need to make, OtherLeg tells me how much vertical space the squiggly part will take. 110
𝖒𝖆𝖋 @mrogalski.eu · 19/04/2025Here I use it for placing the purple segments with fixed gaps (each segment is a pair of arcs with subtly different angles). 100
𝖒𝖆𝖋 @mrogalski.eu · 19/04/2025Here is a tiny but useful function. Given radius of a circle and length of a leg of an embedded triangle, it finds the length of the other leg. It may seem silly but it really makes it easier to think about geometric problems. It's like LERP for geometry. 130
𝖒𝖆𝖋 @mrogalski.eu · 19/04/2025Some of notes made while making sense of x86 conditions. The worst part for me are the JB & JNB conditions which have dual use. They are used for comparing numbers and for "unsigned overflow" checking. This makes it hard to find a reasonable visual metaphor as it also has to exhibit this duality. 010
𝖒𝖆𝖋 @mrogalski.eu · 18/04/2025Do you know what's the difference between JA (jump above) and JG (jump if greater)? Conditional instructions in x86 come in 16 variants with a bunch of interesting symmetries between them. Here is a visual language that attempts to exploit those symmetries to make their meaning more intuitive. 000
𝖒𝖆𝖋 @mrogalski.eu · 16/04/2025Instruction immediates can now be edited! The widget allows decimal, hexadecimal & UTF-8 input. 011

𝖒𝖆𝖋 @mrogalski.eu · 19/03/2025Long story short - an environment for automating games. It's not a super popular hobby. More specifically I'm trying to automate a Skyrim exploit where you repeatedly reset vendor inventory to farm rare alchemy ingredients. 110
𝖒𝖆𝖋 @mrogalski.eu · 19/03/2025Tesseract OCR (3MB model) vs Skyrim Tesseract seems to have issues with: - text shadows - text outlines - high-contrast backgrounds Which is exactly what most game UIs are made of =_= It's far from perfect but I guess we can work with this... 130
𝖒𝖆𝖋 @mrogalski.eu · 15/03/2025Neither the idea of "movie clips are everything" nor ActionScript were the key to Flash though. It was how well the editor (Macromedia Flash 8) was executed. It looked like MS Paint and was just as easy to use. You literally could use it just to draw static vector images. 130
𝖒𝖆𝖋 @mrogalski.eu · 15/03/2025Do you want to know what was the secret to Flash websites? Instead of presupposing that "everything is a document" & "documents are a collection of boxes within other boxes" it went with "everything is a movie clip" & "movie clip is a collection of other movie clips" (Clips all the way down!) 🧵👇 33811
