2/2 The other is using an enamel wash to do a weathering pass. This was a lot of fun, though I needed to do a bit of disassembly so as not to let it seep into somewhere where it could do damage. I'm planning on doing my Lightning Zeta next.

Next week I'll have my piece of black acrylic for photo fun.

1/2 I think Zetas (and their ilk) are becoming my favorite MSes. Just a bit of colour-customizing on this kit, but also some new (to me) techniques. First is using graphite powder to do gun metal. Messy as hell, but works well. Still need to refine my approach. #gunpla #gundam #gunplacommunity

3/3 Decals are leftovers from my RG 2.0, and the details were picked out with Posca and AK markers. Up close, there are plenty of mistakes. But those are inevitable and I've long since stopped chasing perfection.

2/3 I don't usually do gloss-coat, but with how shiny those blue panels are, this kit felt more like a show car than a war machine. The blue parts have very nice silver stickers behind them.

1/3 RX-78F00 with GRLSS Aka color correction hell. Seriously, the amount of color correcting on this kit was ridiculous, but I can't complain about the result. Despite this being a novelty buy, it looks fantastic in person and has incredible shelf presence. #gunpla #gundam #gunplacommunity

2/2 That's not to say I'm unhappy with the build. But I tried to build a bit of tonal variance by underpainting contrasting splotches. But all it really did was create a surface I needed to sand down. Honestly, if I try this again, it'll be on a light-colored kit with paint markers.

3/4 I had a pretty clear vision for this build, but getting colors right is always so difficult for my colorblind ass. Got to try out some new techniques, like scratch-building a few elements, and changing the dimensions of others.

2/4 The inspiration is the Gundam umamusume herself, Mihono Bourbon, and unlike my previous attempt, the colors are a lot closer. Also inspired by the Ex-S Gundam, at least as far as the backpack shape and long gun.

1/4 More uma shenanigans. Base kit is a 30MS Belveria-Berys. Kit-bashed parts include RG 2.0 Gramps, 30MM propellant tank, and a Demi Trainer gun. Some parts were fabricated (ahoge, parts of her hip thrusters) or modified (shoulder/ankle armor). #gunpla #gunplacommunity #umamusume

This is also my second kit using Liquitex Matte Varnish. I really like it, but I'm still finding an optimal spray distance and pressure. Had to do some touch ups with a varnish pen.

You'll notice the lack of Hakuji-Packs pics, because it's a pain in the ass to pose with. And it (and the shield) make it way too busy. The MS itself turned out fine (if a bit too dark), but I regret putting so much orange on the shield. Still, things learned from this one. Onward and upward.

Masking maybe? I know electrical tape can be used for round shapes like the leg armor, and you can use a toothpick to scratch off anything that bleeds under the tape.

2/2 My other hobby is custom mechanical keyboards, and one of my favorite keysets in GMK Mars Cadet. Thus the ReZeon markings. This is my first time doing pre-shading, and I think it turned out pretty OK! This marks my third custom Build Fighters kit, and I've got the one more in the backlog.

3/3 In person, you can see that the top coat pulled towards the edges. My theory is that I was using a PSI a bit too high for my thinning ratio, causing the top coat to hit the surface and disperse towards the edges. Further testing will be required.

2/3 Very nice articulation, though I wish the head/neck were more flexible. Also, though it's not visible in the pictures, I messed up the top coat on this one. Or rather, I'm using new top coat (Gaia Notes Ex- Flat Clear), and I'm still getting used to it.
