Mark Hodson @mrmarkhodson.bsky.social · 13/10/2025Zig zags only apply in the carriageway, kerb to kerb, a part of the offending vehicle has to on or over the lines. In the instance in the piccy you just use a dangerous position offence instead, clearly evidenced and with a potentially higher penalty (up to a discretionary disqualification) 040
Mark Hodson @mrmarkhodson.bsky.social · 12/10/2025Real "peasouper" today...yet nearly half of the vehicles seen do not have any lights showing, none to the rear (just DRL activated) or inappropriate lights illuminated for the conditions. All the drivers commit a variety of offences and would fail the basic driving test, there's no hope 🤦😒.... 3162
Mark Hodson @mrmarkhodson.bsky.social · 13/09/2025Nextbase and endure the "pot luck postcode hope I get a decent officer" response. Due to the way Policing all round is suffering with no hope of improvement it's about time road danger offending was given to another organisation along the lines of the "old" VOSA before they got cut to the bone..... 152
Mark Hodson @mrmarkhodson.bsky.social · 06/09/2025It's something I've been suggesting and arguing for all through my time as a road danger reduction practitioner. By adding a Vehicle Defect Rectification Scheme (VDRS)as used by officers for over 30 years, to the disposal choices of 3rd party reported offences you would reduce demand significantly. 010
Mark Hodson @mrmarkhodson.bsky.social · 05/09/2025Can't beat a potential public participation road danger reduction measure through public opinion and evidencing. Changing just a few words in a couple of manuals would reduce demand on society and the police significantly.... lauralaker.substack.com/p/hundreds-o...lauralaker.substack.com'Hundreds of thousands' of illegal window tints sailing through MOTs per yearDark tints impact driver visibility and increase risk but enforcement at MOT centres is currently discretionary 1228
Mark Hodson @mrmarkhodson.bsky.social · 21/06/2025Bridges 👍 over a third of pedestrian #KSI collisions occur within at a crossing controlled area. Underpasses are a literal sh!t magnet and just generate demand. 110

Mark Hodson @mrmarkhodson.bsky.social · 28/04/2025Yes they'll use the murder strip as an excuse to NFA in the name of demand reduction even though makes no difference to a prosecution given a competent motivated officer actioning. It would fail a test ...the minimum standard required... therefore #S3RTA1988 due cate and attention applies. 040
Mark Hodson @mrmarkhodson.bsky.social · 29/03/2025Just demand reduction excuses, Policing is broken at the moment all round. 110
Mark Hodson @mrmarkhodson.bsky.social · 07/03/2025If you report as an RTC there's a lot more work for you and the officers and the end charge would be the same , a S3 Due Care , just an easier way to.present the evidence and get the same result. 210
Mark Hodson @mrmarkhodson.bsky.social · 15/02/2025It is especially as a bicycle is a "carriage" , even more bizarre, it all needs updating and simplifying. 010
Mark Hodson @mrmarkhodson.bsky.social · 15/02/2025Always confusing to some as it centres on the term "vehicle" , if filtering or the overtaking of a bicycle by a "vehicle" evidentially causes potential issues around the safe use of the crossing the relevant due care offences would just be used rather than the legislation intended for vehicles. 121
Mark Hodson @mrmarkhodson.bsky.social · 04/02/2025Yes that's what we instructed from the start , also enables "victimless" prosecutions where you witness a close pass but are not involved. 220

Mark Hodson @mrmarkhodson.bsky.social · 21/01/2025There's case law that states that a presumption must be made that all the lights are working correctly and so you don't need to see the other light to prosecute or find guilty. I'll find the exact case tomorrow, it was on my twitter account if anyone has it screen shotted? 010
Mark Hodson @mrmarkhodson.bsky.social · 18/01/2025High end "Problem Group" participant ....using a motor vehicle as a weapon to harm or intimidate...offender should be treated in the same manner as someone who used a firearm to do the same....and result in a lifetime ban, as you would with a firearms licence. 2212
Mark Hodson @mrmarkhodson.bsky.social · 16/01/2025Technicaly an offence , it is enforceable but probably only be considered if it troubled another road user. 110
Mark Hodson @mrmarkhodson.bsky.social · 09/01/2025type is just part of the course given the incompetence that has seeped into the BBC in recent years. It's all about interest and fear to gain viewers, clicks or streams rather than truth and facts to inform the public correctly. 1222
Mark Hodson @mrmarkhodson.bsky.social · 09/01/2025I've no faith in BBC reporting since I was cancelled off a Radio 5 debate on Smart Motorways at the last minute with the researcher saying it was obvious I was going to shut down the debate with stats and evidence & that's not what they wanted.
