I might have a bit of a head start 👀

I really cannot overstate how helpful the existing Gamecube Controller CAD model was. It's a very well polished model that was one of the main pillars for this project. Its an amazing resource for the community! You can check out the creator's website here: www.gearhawkstudio.com

The 3D modeling was very tedious, but went pretty quickly given how large of a model it is! I'm very satisfied with the 3D CAD! It'll be a big help as I begin to create modern keyboard and controller electronics!

So far, I have reverse engineered the GC Keyboard Controller's shell, based on my own 3D scans and the GCC CAD from GearhawkStudio. Eventually, I'd like to create custom electronics as well that both recreate the original and add modern features!

Because of difficulties getting resin parts, I've temporarily switched to design projects that I can print in FDM at home. One such project: a custom Gamecube Keyboard Controller! The shell is 3D printed, but I plan on creating a complete replacement!

I don't know for sure about fading, but it should be very scratch and wear resistant because the design isn't just on the surface of the shell!

Please forgive the artwork not being super accurate, I had a bit of a time crunch to get this ordered!

Here's a proof of concept that I'm hoping WJP full color printing can pull off: a recreation of a very limited edition 3DS XL shell! The images aren't decals or painted, they're 3D printed into the shell!

My improved batch of full color 3D printed pokewalker shells turned out great! Looks like a few got scaled up a bit, wonder what's up with that... 👀

Definitely! I've got it all ready in CAD, just need to test it out!

It's been surprisingly tricky to get right, I'm really excited for how it's coming along!

That was ordered from JLCPCB's translucent resin option. I like how it turned out!

Thank you! These are actually done in resin. The transparent ones are formlabs clear v4 and the translucent is JLC's translucent resin option

Thanks haha! I'd love to get some transparent red and blue new 3DS shells to match the Charizard and Blastoise faceplates!

I've made great progress towards 3D printable shells for the 3DS family! I've completed swaps for the 2DS, new 3DS XL, new 3DS, and 3DS XL (not pictured). I'm really happy with how they're looking, but they need some fine adjustments for them to assemble perfectly. Stay tuned!

Looks excellent, its a nice way to print parts that are otherwise too small or delicate. Super impressive work on the N64DD, I can't wait to download it to add to my digital collection! :)

I've been using Fusion! But there's a lot of great, free for hobbyist CAD softwares out there, they're all pretty similar. Fusion does have the benefit of lots of tutorials online

I've just about finished my first draft of the new 3DS shell model! Next I'll need to check my 3D prints and make sure that everything fits together correctly and do an assembly check. I'm really looking forward to making some clear shells!

Since pictures of valves new controller have surfaced, I wanted to share the design I've been working on for a few months! It's surprising just how close I got!

It's not quite ready yet unfortunately, I'm still working on making sure everything assembles correctly

Thanks! Yeah I think a clear shell would look really good with how dense the n3DS internals are. New 3DS non XL screens are pretty cheap on Aliexpress the last I checked!

Hello all, I wanted to make my first post to introduce some of my ongoing projects to this platform! I've been reverse engineering the 3DS models' shells. Here are some nice renders of the in progress new 3DS, new 3DS XL, and new 2DS XL. I have some more projects to post about soon, so stay tuned!
