Lesser Goldfinch at the camera feeder this morning. I haven’t seen as many of these guys this year 🙁. #Birds #Nature #Sonoma. Lesser Goldfinch from the Audubon Bird Guide www.audubon.org/field-guide/bird/le…
A small Lesser Goldfinch with a bright yellow belly and a black cap perches on a teal plastic railing, shown in profile and facing left. Its back and wings are olive-green with black and white wing feathers, and its short, pointed beak is pale gray. Dark, slender legs grip the rail. Behind it, a sunlit rural yard of dry golden grass is dotted with green trees, one with yellow autumn leaves, under a clear blue sky. A small wooden post and a hanging bird feeder are blurred in the background.

My son loves this photo I took earlier this week. Male House Finch eating berries. He said it looks like a gruesome scene of a lion eating a gazelle 🤭 #Birds #Nature #Sonoma #BirdPhotography
A close-up, eye-level photograph captures a male House Finch facing right as it perches on a cluster of elderberries. The small bird has a robust, conical seed-eating bill, currently stained with dark red juice from the fruit. Its head, face, and upper breast are a dusty reddish-pink, while its back and folded wings feature detailed brown-and-white streaking.
The bird stands directly atop a drooping cluster of ripe and decaying red elderberries, which hang from thin red stems. The berries vary in texture and color—some are plump, dark, and shriveled, while others are coated in a pale, whitish bloom. Bright green, serrated lance-shaped leaves surround the bird and the fruit cluster, interspersed with thin brown branches. The background is a soft, out-of-focus mix of warm sunlight and foliage.

I did’t even realize until today that I did get a photo of the Northern Harrier with a rodent this past Monday at Schollenberger Park in Petaluma. 😊 #Birds #Nature #BirdPhotography #Canon R5ii RF200-800
A medium-close action shot captures a Northern Harrier in mid-air flight against a soft, out-of-focus background of distant blue-gray hills and a golden-brown field below. The raptor is banked slightly to its left, displaying mottled brown and buff plumage across its back and underwings with dark-barred flight feathers. Its head is turned forward, highlighting sharp yellow eyes and a hooked beak. Its bright yellow talons are extended downward, clutching a small prey item.A raptor, likely a northern harrier, is captured mid-air in a dynamic downward swoop over a muted green and golden field. The bird is angled diagonally across the frame with its wings lifted high, displaying mottled brown and dark gray feathers on the upper wings and a barred pattern on its tail. Black Phoebe on my roof today, and a shocked looking Chestnut-backed Chickadee 😮 #Birds #Nature #Sonoma #California
A dark charcoal-grey or black bird with a contrasting bright white belly perched facing right on the rough, grey speckled shingles of a roof, set against a solid, vibrant blue sky.A small bird, likely a chickadee perched on a metal rod next to a dark feeder against a bright, hazy white background. The bird has a rounded, fluffy body, dark cap and bib, white cheeks, and is facing slightly right with its beak open.

The bird features a dark, near-black cap on its head and a matching dark bib under its chin. Its cheeks and a patch on the back of its neck show contrasting white plumage. Its belly and chest are a soft, pale off-white or light gray, while its back, wings, and flanks display muted brownish-gray tones. Its feet and short beak are dark gray or black.

The bird has an alert, animated, and vocal expression. With its small dark eye focused forward and its beak parted open, it appears to be singing, calling out, or excitedly chirping while perched.

Saw this Eurasian Collared-Dove yesterday in Petaluma. It’s invasive to North America, but still nice. It competes with our native Mourning Doves. #Birds #Sonoma. Build a wall 🤷🏼‍♂️😔 California classifies them as a game bird with no bag limits and a year-round open season.

Here’s a couple photos of a Downy Woodpecker that was on my feeders about a week ago. #Birds #Nature #Sonoma I always wonder why they developed that redhead. It almost looks like the halves of their brain.
A male Downy Woodpecker hangs under a wire suet cage, showcasing his agile mechanics against a soft, muted backdrop. The bird’s sleek black-and-white patterned plumage is punctuated by a vivid splash of crimson on the nape.A male Downy Woodpecker hangs under a wire suet cage, showing his agility against a soft, muted backdrop. The bird’s head faces forward so we see his red head feathers on the rear head.

Got a decent shot of a black Phoebe today. #Birds #Sonoma #Nature #Canon
A side-profile, close-up shot of a small songbird—a Black Phoebe—resting on the horizontal slat of a reddish-brown textured wooden fence. The bird has soot-black and slate-gray plumage covering its head, back, and wings, with subtle white edging along the wing feathers and a clean white underbelly. It is turned toward the right with a small, sharp black beak and dark, attentive eyes. The background is a soft, warm bokeh of beige and tan earth tones, with a faint, out-of-focus green leafy blur visible in the lower foreground.

Happy #Caturday evening from Yuki. She’s lonely tonight because I’m the only one home right now. #Cats
A chubby, solid-gray Scottish Fold cat sits curled up tightly in the small, circular, cream-colored plush perch of a cat tree. Its dense, plush fur fills the padded basket, and its thick, fluffy tail hangs down over the front edge. The cat's distinctive ears are folded flat against its round head as it looks toward the camera with a calm, watchful expression. The background shows a dimly lit indoor room.

Broad shoulders. Nice Symmetry. I’ve learned my lesson as a husband to say something nice. How did I do? 🤔#Birds #Nature
A medium-sized wild bird (likely a dove) captured from a steep, close-up angle facing away from the camera as it leans forward over a feeder.
