I have the feeling that with this style I remove effort and time from the lineart and add it to the shadows and lights. I'm starting to feel it's a good opportunity to practice and improve areas that I was totally overlooking, and once I feel comfortable with it maybe I can see how to mix both!

Someone just told me this pic made them think of a very specific scene: a road trip that started before dawn, hours later, when the sun begins to rise, pulling into a roadside diner’s parking lot for breakfast freezeing their asses off. Now I’m curious. Does this drawing evoke a scene for you too?

Exactly! During the last couple years I've been experimenting with different styles trying to find something that fits but feels "new". I think this new style could be a good thing, furthermore it forces me to put more effort into the lights and shadows and step out of the comfort zone.

Aw thank you! And... I don't know! I feel I spent way less time drawing clean lines and almost like I jumped directly from sketching to coloring, which is nice. But also need to be more conscious with the lighting and I need a lot of improvement there... Might have to try it some more 🤔

I've been getting a bit tired of my drawing workflow. I feel like my style relies heavily on lineart and makes certain lighting effects harder to pull off. So I decided to experiment and rely less on lineart... I really want to know what you think. I'm still deciding...

Well everything seemed quite understandable! The only thing I didn't understand was why the double-leg. Then I understood when I tried to delete it that it works as a fake limb to mimic the real limb IK tracks and keep everything in place haha
